Just to add to the reply mate, I personally don't want to see him at the club because it sounds in the media like he's already trying to call all the shot, protect his own interests etc, and IMO we don't need someone with his explosive reputation and ego at the club. Along with the wages and 'extras', how bad would training ground bust-ups, dummy spits etc be for morale, + there's the inevitable suspensions, possible off-field problems etc.
Praying that we stay clear of him because IMO at 30 years old he's just not worth the hassle.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle. Frederick Douglas:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_30596.jpg

Bang on Roofington.

Just out of interest, do you have to do a night shift at The Samaritans? Which is a great charity, wish I'd got your commitment.

To me though, the biggest potential flashpoint is not the money or the extras or the training ground bust-ups. What if his ego is so big he insists on running out last on matchday? icon_wink.gif

Hey if we do sign him I hope I'm wrong mate - I hope he works for us with the same attitude and committment as many of his fellow countrymen have at Rovers the last few years, but to me it just seems quite a risk. eusa_think.gif

Yeah, but usually only every 6 weeks. You do a regular shift (e.g. a 7pm-10pm shift every alternate Monday say), then a 10pm-2am or 2am-7am every 6 weeks. They also ask that you do a Sunday shift (usually morning or afternoon) every 3 months, but this is flexible i.e. you can pick a Sunday & time that suits. Been there nearly 2 years now, it's challenging at times but is definitely the most rewarding work have ever done. icon_smile.gif

imo would be a good signing on a 1 year deal then see how he goes, but 3 years when he will be 31 when he gets here? will cert put bums on seats, and short term could be very very good, long term not so sure,

If you only knew the POWER of the dark side.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_17123.jpg

Putting it simply it boils down to this.

Pro's
Massive kudos for any club that signs him
If he gets his head right a massive capture/ meter maker/ forward for any SL club.
A possible big draw for extra pass sales.

Con's
Can be problems in the dressing room.
If his head is wrong a possible liability.

Looking at it from that point of view I find it hard to come down on any one side of the arguement.

He could be massive he could be a royal pain its 50/50 either way.

All I will say is that even been talked about in these terms thinking back just 5 years give me butterflies TBH.

So pretty flexible then (apologies to other posters for going off topic) I've been thinking of getting involved for a while now, might explore a bit further.

BTW, I know you've been looking for Social Work things for a bit (iirc) if you fancy moving away from Hull I know that Leeds is crying out for Social Workers in Children's.

Yeah definitely, they could help as much as possible (e.g. if something crops up and you need to swop shifts). Drop me a PM if you need any further info/help, I think they'll be taking on the next batch pretty soon (usually around Sept/Oct time).

Oh right, thanks mate. Was planning to saty in Hull ideally but will have a nosey on Leeds City Council's website, cheers. icon_thumb.gif icon_smile.gif

Standing up to the forum bully. It must be working, he doesn't like me...i'm devastated:

On the proposed Mason signing it amuses me how much the knowalls above are aware of his contract offers, his monetary figures, his length of contract etc
(even if they disagree among themselves and raise his offers trying to outdo the other knowall etc icon_biggrin.gif ) when, unless they are party to the negotiating teams they know exactly naff all.

It's 50/50 split if Fielden and / or Thackery are signing for them but nearly 100% know the Mason saga icon_lol.gif
