Have a rambling simile - it's on the house...
It's like the kid who was laughed at by his classmates for having a poundland pencil case, gleefully turning up to the school reunion in a Ferrari, with a gorgeous woman on his arm, only to find that the roof of the hall has collapsed.
He can still approach the survivors as they pull themselves from the rubble, with a jaunty 'Hi this Jemima, and before you ask - yes they're real.', but nobody is going to give a poop.'"
It's like charity work for me. Like feeding the down and outs on christmas day

| Thought he played well, although still the 3rd best half on the pitch, but that's not a surprise with how dominant we were.
Will have the likes of Watkins, Hall, Moon etc at Rovers though to make him look a better player?

The level of quality he's surrounded by and up against will largely depend on our results in our next 7 or 8 games.
If we do get up, it'll be interesting to see how much ambition we have. The risk with 'our' attempts to be manage the club in a more sensible or sustainable way after the Morgan era was that it smelt stagnation and defeat. For example, the premium we apparently had to pay to attract players, supposedly owing to geography was I suspect also to do with an expectation of losing games uncomfortably frequently. Even if agents were too polite to say it.
While Leeds might yet win the GF and Wigan the Cup, Cas, Hull, and to a lesser extent Salford and Wakefield have at very least put a big crack in that glass ceiling.
We can worry about that later though, fingers crossed.

| Quote: Mild Rover "Let's say for arguments sake that we've moved on. To a whole heap of more serious problems, but that is still a type of moving on. Even if i wanted to look like an embittered wazzock, I don't have very much spare focus for hating on the kid. We were releasing him anyway and he reacted with a level of professionalism that we should have maybe anticipated, given the reason we were releasing him. He was just another in a line of mistakes that ultimately led us to the Championship.
On Maguire, he looked decent today in a well-beaten team. If he can bring that form to us in 2018 for 20+ games he'll be a good signing. Be interesting to see who we play alongside him. I guess Atkin would be plan A if we don't get up, but he'd probably be a bit raw to go straight in as a starter in SL. On the other hand he'll turn 25 in February, so he's not a kid.'"
danny is a good player but his injury record is getting worse but he will be a good mentor for your young players

I've never been very convinced by the mentoring argument with older players, but that likely just reflects my own preference for learning by doing, rather than listening or watching.
Wear and tear is always a concern with an older player, but his injury record is okay-to-good these last few years, with the exception of last year when he only managed 13 games after some time out early season with a knee problem.
Given that Ellis and Abdull are both on loan, it's good have sorted a stand-off for next year nice and early. It'd be unrealistic to expect to get a player of Maguire's calibre in their prime without even having won promotion. Doesn't take up a non-fed spot either.
