| Mcnamara holds several unwanted records of failure at bradford, leaving with a superb run of 12 losses out of the last 13 matches at the end of the 2010 season. The team had started the season with 10 wins and 2 draws out of the first 17 matches,so it took half the season before he set the rot in,with a finishing position of 10th in his first full season. The following season they finished 10th again, only 9 wins out of 27 matches. He was the 1st bradford coach not to make the playoffs and guided them to their longest losing run in 20 years. Finally the bulls fans prayers were answered and he was sacked, brilliant.
He was then given the england job and despite arguably the best squad ever,we lost to aussie and new zealand in the 2013 world cup, finished 3rd of 4 in the 4 nations, beating only samoa, finally we beat new zealand reserves 2-1 to win the series.Just what we need a guy as coach who has a long history of failure, would much prefer webster to continue as coach.Since he took over other than the home games v oldham and cats we have improved markedly IMO.

| Did McNamara do a good job with England I thought he under achieved, was heavily critised by fans fit his selections and failed at the World Cup.
Saying that I think he will be a decent appointment as he should have improved massively since his Bradford days after working under Robinson, hopefully have some good contacts as he has a tough job recruiting for next year, particularly as it looks like your big earners are staying.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| His Dad used to coach me and my Mum taught him maths.
I'm rubbish at maths and his Dad made me a worse player, he also made me throw up a lot at training.

England came within seconds of making the WC final. Hardly a failure.

| Another hull lad taking charge of a hull club I like it, he has bags of experience on the world stage & in the NRL with the right players he can only be a massive plus to get the club back on track.

In tournament with only 3 main teams? So technically we were the worst of the best teams, not exactly a great success.

So his international record is no worse ( or better) than Brian Noble & Tony Smith?

No, although there SL certainly is.
Although I'm sure under Noble we regularly use to beat NZ (not a reserve side like we did this year) and beat the Aussies a few times including away, did we make a World Cup final with one of them also.
Actually I could be thinking of Waite, pretty much all blends into one.
As I've said I think he could make a good coach, but you can't describe his time as successful, I've also just remembered him picked the likes of Chase and Heithington for England also.
I spoke to a Rovers fan who stayed with McNamara a few months in Aus and he thinks it is a done deal, seems really strange it isn't announced though.

| FFS. This is a thread about Albert Kelly, not a diatribe of speculation about our next coach. It's getting derailed, so suggest someone starts a new thread to carry on the discussion about the various merits or demerits of Mcnamara.
Back on topic regarding Albert Kelly. Glad he's staying for 2017, hope he stays fit and injury free. His extension will most definitely mean that his good mate Bobby Blair will also be returning next year. Outstanding.

Bit over dramatic my Pickering friend, it's still a revelvent topic and at least it's about rugby.
Anyway Kelly is being a bit greedy, he now has 4 threads about him, so I reckon he could spare one for Macca.

| Fair point Dave. I need training on how to rename a thread or how to cut and paste alternative topic posts without the dubious responsibility of becoming a Moderator.

| Many inapropriate gags have been written in this post and deleted, I had to post this just to get them off my ample chest.
I also didn't want to set up Jake's obvious pun, oh go on then, my Mum is Ms. Amanda Huggenkiss...
