| Quote: easthull4 "I have read the posts on last nights game and some of the comments are reasonable points. Yes they tried, yes trying is not enough, but let's be honest about the comment no squad rotation who where you going to rotate the following players are out injured
Shaw
Mantelato
Horne
Salter
Campesie
Kelly
Larroyer
Donaldson
Boudebza
So with those players missing who else is there to put in NO ONE
We do not have a big squad or in fact a good enough squad to compete with the best and to hold the Dragons to 12 points in the second half took guts
If Mantelato had been on the wing instead of Dixon who is just not good enough, not big enough or brave enough in defence then with just one of the nine missing it could have been a different game IF and there is that word again half of those missing were fit it would have been a different game
It is going to be a hard remaining end to the season but if Rovers get all the nine fit I believe we will be in Superleague next year but unless they improve the squad depth it will be same same as money is the problem as there is not enough of it at the club'" Agree with a lot of what you say but would add a small point or two with the full squad available there is an argument that Dixon is worth the risk but with a depleted side he is to much of a risk. I also heard a quote from Leeds chairman " they are stuck with what they have as like most clubs they are spending up to their limit" Even if we had cash to splash there are just not the calibre of player we need at a price we can pay, our only chance for the future is to find develop & keep our own players, I would even be looking at lower league union forwards as there are some fit lads out there who lack the sheer size to make it but are better suited to league.

| Last week was a massive high. This week, massive low. That's sport, and in particular that's us. It's the hope that kills you.
Catalans bossed the game and each player pretty much owned each match up every time. I don't really buy into the excuses as reasons for the outcome. Catalans would've had every reason to use their Sat>Thurs and travelling as a valid reason for not performing. As it was, they turned up and dominated from 40-20 onwards. Credit to them. Big statement.
For us - it was bad, no escaping that, but there's also no point feeling sorry for ourselves now. It's time to dust ourselves down and go again for Oldham and then Cas away. I thought Moran showed some positives when he came on. Wouldn't mind maybe seeing Wardill or Oakes getting a game next week if the situation allows.

You couldn't have been predicting grand finals for Catalan after the 10 -38 result against Hull, surely.

| When you don't touch the ball for the first 10 minutes in a game and when you cough up 4 soft and entirely preventable tries in the first 25 minutes, 3 through inept and totally spineless defence from one individual, it's inevitable heads drop. At that point, the deficit and the one-sided nature of the lopsided scoreline is no way attributable to our physically and mentally tired Rugby League professionals who had one extra day of recovery time to our opposition. Credit the opposition at this point and our ineptitude.
So here follows the perspective.
After 25 mins of the game, our game plan has completely gone for a ball of chalk. Initiative and confidence and energy is low. Cats totally on the front foot, us on the back foot.
Last year at home with four scores in arrears, we mounted a successful partial comeback before half time and then blew them away second half playing Harlem Globetrotter rugby. Wait a minute, we had Campo and Kelly on the park then, it was before Easter and Cats couldn't defend. Now they can, they have recruited superbly and have a form scrum half in Richie Myler. They marked us man for man and held their shape. They defended easily.
Morals of the story - life is all about timing; 12 months is all it takes to turn your fortunes around; Glenn Stewart is a prime example of a smart overseas recruitment; do the game basics well and control the game. There are countless others, many more derogatory, but those 4 will do for now.

The way they played last night that 4 would have made a difference they were just not good enough the first 15 minutes killed them from the first 40-20 in the second minute and then two quick tries never had the ball for 11. Minutes at least .
No excuses squad not big enough END OF

| As the game went away from us we didn't even try a short kick off, just the usual kick to the same place. We looked really inept last night and void of any ideas whatsoever. Bullied. The thing is these players looked knackered but we have no one to bring in, so no matter how effortlessly they play they'll still get picked.

Jeez, was last week this season's Challenge Cup final for you? Look at the table mate. No one should be getting carried away by beating us this year. I'm not having a go at Rovers fans (you are in just as much sh*t as us and Huddersfield Midgets atm).
If you beat the likes of the top 4 you will deserve some credit and I hope you do.
All this game proves (like the whole Easter period for us) is that you have got one hell of a fight to avoid the middle 8's.

Last night he made 28 tackles with four misses. One tackle bust, one offload and six carries for a total of 36 metres.

In a season with few highs thus far, we'll take what we can thank you. Given our current circumstances, such moments like our first league victory away from Hull since 2014, will be regarded as a positive thing to us. Your condescending arrogance to feel the notion to put this down and not understand the context of such comment, shows - you just don't get what it's like to travel to most games realistically expecting to lose.

The good news is that are experiencing just that at the moment. Long may it continue.

| It's a good read this thread...with a few exceptions.
Last night Catalan were excellent...helped by some eccentric officiating. Best team we've played. Myler has a kicking game!!! Stewart was exceptional. He marked Blair out of the game. Thought our forwards held their own despite the score. Without Blair we were hopeless with the ball. The other 2 pivots don't have the ability to play catch up rugby.
Our problem is 3 poor coaching appointments on the trot. Webster has improved us....a bit.
These coaches have all recruited poorly. Cats Wire and Widnes recruited to complete a balanced squad. We have not.
Mulhern Minns Greenwood show real promise for the future. Clarkson....pah.
I believe I may have advocated for Dixon in the past and he is an exceptional runner of the ball but......last night he bottled out of defensive duties almost every time. He's shot at the moment and Cats exploited him like Leeds couldn't.
Maybe Oakes gets a go against Oldham.
Why.....why....WHY can't we get Sio in the game.
Where did Marsh hide last night.
We need some surgery for next season to not be bottom 4 again.
Well get some more beatings this year. Well win some. The coach shouldn't publicly make excuses...real or not..for a 40-0 beating at home. He should say publicly it is unacceptable. Wane wouldn't tolerate it Ferguson Mourinho etc. Webster shouldn't either or the players will lose confidence in themselves and him.

| What or where is our "tone from the top" these days? Hudgell, Smith, Peacock? Crossland only communication is to claim we're at full cap and talk about the fan survey which is reminiscent of the infamous steering group that died in its backside.
The atmosphere was sterile last night and with current performances and league position we cannot be expected to attract better players. Silence on the new "top line" coach. Falling attendances.
As others have said perhaps 10th is simply where we are and all we can afford. I remain unconvinced that our 25 man squad is the same cost as our opposition last night.
Finally is Ken Sio's final year (2017) activated or an option?
