Friend of mine's dad got a call from company trying to sell him a conservatory. He explained that he wasn't interested and there was really no point them sending a rep round to see him. But they were insistent, saying he had nothing to lose by letting them measure up and show him their brochure, so in the end he gave in. Then' when they turned up, they had the nerve to complain that he hadn't mentioned he lived in a first floor flat!

Quiet weren't it? Tension and boredom in turns, it seemed like. Reasonable point in the circumstances, given watford's better goal difference. They really should get up, but the result that gets them there might well be Blackburn's or Leicester's.
Both those games before city go to Barnsley - if Watford win them both, it'll be nervy. |

The 'father' of the Football Association and modern football. Drafted the laws of a game that now bestrides the sporting world.
He was born and grew up in Hull. Is there anything commemorating him in the city? I'd never even heard of him until a few minutes ago.

I've read about him before. A quick check shows that there were plans at one point for a memorial in the city centre where his childhood home once stood on Worship Street. Not sure if it ever happened though. |
