Quote Mrs Barista="Mrs Barista"A bit odd that there's confidence Sandercock can improve Lyne. Gentle's not developed him, fair enough, but we have seen improvements in some players - Turner and Sharp for example. Bowden and Crooks have broken through. Houghton remains an England Knights pick and is a very effective hooker for us. On Sandercock's side, Taylor's stepped up, Hall has delivered the same mixed bag of the last umpteen years and your two closest prospects for international selection, Welham and Watts, have stepped back and stalled respectively. Are Sandercock and Chester so superior in developing players to Gentle and Hay that it's a given that all young players will come on leaps and bounds under them? Not convinced the evidence is unequivocal at this point tbh, but could well prove to be so.'"
Players who have improved under Sandercock:
1. Josh Hodgson
(huge gap)
2. Scott Taylor
3. Craig Hall
4. Liam Salter
5. Clinton (although its a marginal improvement!)
Players who appear to have gone backwards:
1. Liam Watts
That's about it. Welham is just the same, although it looks like he missed more tackles, that's likely to Galea missing a chunk of the season (he defends next to him and does the donkey work).
I don't get this Sandercock v Gentle rubbish. As things stand (and this is purely my opinion), Gentle is showing that he has more experience and the step up the Head Coach has been easier for him to make. That's not to say Sandercock won't make it, I just think he's starting further back on the grid. It's not for me to judge your coach. I will judge ours on next years performances, unlike the knee jerk brigade.
I'm just glad he's presently not slagging refs or pointing out the opposition internationals. This could change back after back-to-back defeats!
