i dont really care one way or another. He stayed with us and looks like one of our better prospects.
I do trust the person that told me though and would be interested to hear over a beer sometime why you are so certain you really didnt!

| Quote: east hull FC fan "Lauaki isn't even a prop! You're wrong about Moa though.
In O'Meley we have one of the top 5 props in this league, in Moa we have one of the top 2 impact props. Sadly in Dowes, Radford and Cusack we have 3 of the bottom 10 props also.
But anyway, Clinton, although I haven't seen as much of him as you guys and he might not play many minutes, he's been streets ahead of anything else you've got. You need at least 2 more to go with him.'"
Lauiki may not be a prop but hes certainly an impact player.
if anyone watched the Anzac test on Friday you would have seen that the Aussies didnt bother with impact props either. they just had 4 good go forward props.

| Quote: knocker norton "That would depend if you are talking on reputation or current form. Lauaki was once called the best impact prop in the NRL by his then NZ Warriors captain Steven Price (a prop of considerable standing in the NRL). This year he has played second row all season.
Sam Moa's current form would suggest he isnt 'far' from a top quality impact prop but certainly still a work in progress but none the less showing some excellent form in a below par Hull team.
FWIW I would play Lauaki more as a prop for Hull especially on the firmer grounds.'"
i agree with what your saying about Moa,he could be very good. but how long can he be a work in progress? hes in his second season with you now but still doesnt look fit enough yet. IMO Agar needs to give him more minutes to get the best out of him.

Work in progress may be the wrong wording but he is only 24 which is still young for a prop and he is developing nicely.
Dont agree about him not looking fit enough because this year I think he looks in shape (for a big Tongan anyway ). The amount of game time is down to Agar and that can be baffling and I suspect with injuries creeping in he will get far more game time over the coming weeks.

TBH I would be asking why Morgan wasnt interested in a young, fairly cheap impact prop living in the city who was out of contract. We could see he had potential last year and his current form is right up their.
I would say Rovers should have been looking for a player like Moa.
IMO of course.

Quota will have been a big issue. It would have essentially been Moa or Clinton. And we needed somebody who was more than just a prospect.
That said I think we could do with a non-quota impact prop - somebody in the Richard Moore mould. Maybe not Morgan's style though.

Lets weigh up the pros and cons here then.
Moa is out of contract at Hull with Agar unsure of whether to offer him a deal because of his deficencies in defence.
Moa's agents touts his name around and 2 unnamed clubs have supposedly made him offers.
The HDM run a story saying one of them is Rovers.
Not confirmed by the club once and smack in the middle of a time where every Rovers story the HDM ran turned out to be wrong
Surprise surprise the player gets a new deal at Hull
Neil Hudgell is asked on the Online Interview with the fans if Rovers ever made an offer for Moa and his reply which was posted on this site is an categoric NO.
So forgive me it i take his version of events over a couple of keyboard would be wind up merchants one of which talks bollax on a daily basis

Quite correct.
This thread shouldnt be drifting on to one of Hull FC's fringe players who only seems to get a game when there are injuries.
