Clint Newton is a cert, I'm not sure Smith played enough games for us to merit the other one. This ones a toughie!

Clint Newton and Michael Smith, don't need to say anything about Newton, Smiths' first run in the NL1 GF sends shivers down my spine no matter how many times i watch it, just set the tone for the game that run. Awsome!!!

Smith and Morrison for me. Some of Smiths offloads in games were superb and many runs which were fantasic and demolished the opposition. Morrision as he was a tackling machine and even though he didnt score many tries he made the hard tough yards with minimal errors

Clint Newton and Iain Morrison for me, Mark O'Neil was great for us but the fact he didn't play enough games goes against him.

The best second rows we've had in the last 10 years are, without question, Galea and Newton.

I'm surprised that there's so many replies omitting Galea. During their time here he's probably (marginally) outperformed Newton overall. Granted, based on the games towards the end of last season Newton appears to be in the ascendancy now.

As stated before O'Neill did have a big impact for us , both on and off the pitch.
Unfortunately Smith only played a couple of games at SL level.
Morrison was a real workhorse at NL level.
Raleigh had a very good spell with us but took his chance at SL level and has done well since , and good luck to the kid.
Netherton was not too shabby either in the 2nd row , as he has never let us down.

I would have to say Newton and Galea, the best two players by some distance. Smith played a major role in our promotion season and for that we are all grateful but we all know he could have played a much bigger role if he really wanted it.

Christ, we already had to sew together two pairs of shorts and a parachute from the back of a dragster as it was, don't think the kit budget would have stretched any further than that at the time.
