| Quote: belgianxiii "Strange one that, I thought he was very popular and is worth 4 points in the table for his part in consistently winning the Hull derbys. I don't think he has played his best at KR though, compared with the Paul Cooke who won the Challenge Cup under Kear he's a shadow of his former self, but he's also playing in a different position (iirc) which I think is part of the problem.
I don't see why he'd go, hopefully he will front up this year to renew his contract. Otherwise I could see him moving to Wakefield to team up with Brough/Kear, or possibly a short SL deal with Celtic/Salford on big money.'"
he isn't worth the wages he is on. On his day he is an awesome player, but he isn't a complete player and he can drift out of games. His off field antics also let him down.
With Dobson in the side Rovers simply don't need Cooke at the salary he is on.

| I think that Cooke and Galea going at the end of the season will hit us hard, but it will also allow us to keep the finances in order, I think its proved with the signings made in this off season that the club is trying to move in the direction of younger players that are signed early in their careers and then allowed to develop at the club.

As I said earlier, I think galea is easier to replace than Cooke is, I struggle to see where we have a good enough 6 coming through the ranks although I could see Galea going to save finances (and Quota) and cooke going to free up cap space to sign a quality 6.

The Mail only want to know about City. If they’d won 3-0 at Arsenal this story would never have gone to press. The bad news stories about the RL clubs get wheeled out to divert the focus off City when they’re doing badly. As the World Cup bid has failed, City’s finances are a mess, the inevitable slide towards relegation is gathering pace & Pearson says no new signings are likely we can probably expect more of these quality “exclusives”.

6 is a hard position for anyone to fill, but I feel with the current financial state at the club we would be better of with singing a younger (and cheaper) replacement and letting them develop alongside Dobson.

what like ianson ? dobson gets an injury and rovers would be in the s**t , no ball player and no direction. cooke never been given a roll to play by morgan , all around dobson which makes them predictable , its all down to money .the players which have left have been replaced by younger players with little experience and all the cost cutting which will show this season

| generally most plays will go through the half back, dobson normally has room on the ball and is far from predictable, good show and go, good kicking and passing game!
stan, makka and fozzard have gone, stan and makka never had much game time last year and if the clinton deal is as done as rumour suggest's, then he will replace foz. so as for been weaker? no!
cookie? not set the world alight scince his arrival, but worth every penny for the derby games
i think he will have a big season as a previous poster suggested, playing for a contract / new club!

| Cooke will be dificult to replace & there are not many non quota number sixes around so we will have to (A) promote a younger player ( Ianson ?),(B) give someone at the club the position (Murrel ?), (C) buy an expensive Aussie. My option is B, but thats why the coach gets paid he will have to ballance the squad as well as the books. It happens all the time. I expect Dobson would be off to Australia if a NRL club wanted him, it makes the quota/salary cap interesting.

| I thought he had left already seeing as it is more than 6 months since a HFC fan started a thread about him going!

Think you'd be more excited if the last O was replaced by a C and dropped the E.
