What a tragic and arrogant generalisation. 2 points for you:
I've not been to a Craven Park derby in the SL era. If you think I stay away from games because I expect defeat, why did I go to every other game last season (bar Murrayfield and London but including pre season friendlies)? Because I enjoy it. My previous experiences at Craven Park pre SL were not enjoyable as the atmosphere and spitting etc goes beyond RL banter IMO. I'm not saying it's different for Rovers supporters at the KC BTW. I just wouldn't take my family to the South Stand at Craven Park. The 70% premium reserved for FC's visit is shabby opportunism based on assuming a sellout regardless, so it's quite amusing that, it was a contributory factor in the ground failing to get near capacity.

The other point is that even with a low turnout from FC, tickets were returned in time for resale and were available in other parts of the ground. You must be very confident in latent demand to be creating the £6m North Stand on the back of not selling out home areas of the ground for the season's biggest game (crowdwise).

Surely you've just contradicted yourself by saying you wouldn't go in the south stand due to shabby opportunism yet there were tickets available for other areas that aren't overpriced...

The going beyond banter comments may be realistic, but are very isolated incidents. I have had the odd idiot at the KC threatening from afar and barging intentionally into us on the way out yet I wouldn't tarnish the whole experience on those minor occurances.

On the over pricing, I agree the south stand is overpriced and should be dropped for all fans. Yet I managed to go to every game last year, home and away, and I'll let you guess where the most expensive ticket I bought to get in game was...

If they were having a good season and were competetive with us the South stand would have been full.'"

I didnt go as I would never go in the South stand again, you just cant see teh match at all, it is the poorest view in RL, even at poor grounds like Wakefield and Bradford you can still see the game. If Hull where top of the league and the ticket was free I still wouldnt go in that stand, would happily go in the golf stand or the seats though.

Better facilities than CP - of course. Better than the DW Stadium? No, the away end at Wigan is a far superior view to the KC and £5 cheaper on last seasons prices. Even Hudds at £16.50 a ticket represents far greater value.

got to agree. DW is my best away ground by far, brilliant views. And apart from the derby games its also got the best atmosphere.

No I don't think these things are worth it, it cost me, my wife and daughter £28 more to see that game then it did to watch the game at Wigan.

Did I get a better view at the KC, not particularly.
Was it more comfortable, no.
Could I take a beer to my chair at the KC, no.

Suppose I did getthe added benfit of threatening abuse from chav corner for 80% of the game tho' so not all bad.

please bear in mind : i said "among" the best facilities !! yes the wigan stadium is of equal quality & view really . yes the price is a little steep comnpared to wigan , huddersfield i admit. ( possibly huddersfield is cheaper to encourage larger crowds ) as for wigan they dont have to worry about getting larger away followings ( they are within 20-30 miles of a lot of sl clubs ) more people means lower prices !! . we at hull are lucky to get more than 800 away supporters ( apart from the derby game ) the stadium obviously has to cater for people in the north stand & that costs money ( stewards , bar staff , lighting etc ) . in fact most games it would be wiser to put the couple of coach loads we sometimes get in the west stand at a cheaper rate . would surely save money . all in all i would rather pay £68 ish for a family of four in the kc facilities than £55 quid ish & freeze to death like the derby the other year in that god awful stand . it was that comparison i was trying to make .

p.s i agree fully on the beer issue icon_wink.gif

Your ticket allocation for the North stand wasn't even full so any hull fan wanting to see, yet another derby defeat, could have still gone. icon_smile.gif

p.s please can you advise me what the cost was for the the three of you in total for the derby game . it seems steep to me ?? in south stand it would have cost approx £54.00 i think for 2 adults & one child ( depending on age) if your daughter is of adult age £60.00 total . how can that be £28.00 dearer than at wigan ?? just puzzled that's all !!

Wigan only cost me £32 for the 3 of us. Not sure of the total cost at the KC we ended up having to go in the west upper. Think it was about £25 an adult and 10 for a child (may be wrong on the split but I know it was £60)

To be honest I was being provocative and I understand anyones frustration at paying for our south stand, but the point I was trying to make was a lot of FC fans seem to think it's a privelige that we get to visit the KC once a year bu from our point of view there are better / more value for money grounds elsewhere in SL.

For the last Derby game at CP any Hull fan could have got a spot in the north stand if they had wished and the view i there is as good as most grounds in SL.

AHH !! that explains it a little more . the west stand is very expensive ( also far dearer at wigan i might add) sorry , i assumed you were in the north away stand !! . not really a like for like comparison . still at £32.00 quid for your wigan game , that seems extremely cheap for three of you ( although i noticed a family deal in their north stand for 2010 season ( £40.00) for 2 adults & one child . not bad at all . i also did not take into account you may have been passholders & that would have entitled the child pass to go in free at away games ( no ?? ) but that would have applied also at the k.c !!

but in the long run , the kc are maybe over doing it on some of the prices & even taking into consideration the points i made in another post about running costs etc , charging away supporters a little too much may force them to stay at home !! hmmmm !! .

but also my original comment regarding value for money as against craven park still stands !! which my original post was aimed at . would you have wanted to sit in that awful stand , facing hail & wind like the derby game last year for approx £42.00 ( for your family) ??

We are all passholders but as is the case with most events nowadays anyone with a job has little or no chance of getting tickets they want (especially child swaps for derby games) as most places seem to insist on putting htem on sale on a week day.. icon_rolleyes.gif We ended up in West stand as the North was just too much hassle to bother with and to be honest it wasn't bad in there compared to the north.

To be fair the derby game this year was held in July so the likelyhood for hail and (cold) wind was low even in Hull, IIRC it was a pretty nice day and perfect weather for sitting in the north stand. I remember when we played Bradford last season in feb and it was pretty bleak in Odsal that day as was Leeds in the pouring rain. Would I go back...definitely

Leeds.
Wakey.
Catalans (although generally warm)
Salford.
Bradford.

All have the away fans out in the elements and charge a similar amount to CP, would you also not go to these games away?
