Quote: Anakin Skywalker "Being selective again I see or did you just miss the 'considerable increase' part?
Before you say it yes he was undervalued on his current deal but I haven't read 'considerably undervalued' anywhere.'"

But he clearly wasn't undervalued when negotiated his 1 year deal at Rovers - he was a virtual unknown at that point but selected a one year term because he believed he was worth more and wanted to make a career of it here. Half a season later he's in the Exiles squad and you've got threads with the majority of Rovers fans extremely keen to retain him. His market value has obviously substantially increased in a competition with few good FBs. FC sound like they are willing to reflect this in a deal. Rovers either don't think he's worth it or can't afford it. Not sure what selectivity I'm applying here TBH.

A bit different, but thats been done to death.

There's a lot of Newcastle's squad available.

That for once is a good post I think it's the latter I don't think we want to throw silly money at players anymore I can see the positives and the negatives in this we have lost a decent player in Mcdonnell just hope for rovers sake next season they're not doing it on the mega mega cheap cos that ain't gonna go down well for season passes next year.

Even though it was documented that the deal was undervalue with an aim to get a increase for 2013 you mean?
I know it's hard for you to accept you may have had to pay above market value because you were so desperate for a FB what with yours going home but try not to take it out on us.
I do now wonder what you are paying captain pringle and Gentle though seeing as there signing policy seems to be 'What are HKR doing?'(Paea, Lovegrove, Watts, Taylor, McDonnell) maybe Sandercock should ask for a consultation fee.

Ano it's a shame that sherriff isn't ready yet, that was just an example Sheldon of how it makes fans feel on the opposite side of the rivers when a player swaps over.

You didn't use Hall or Hodgson, players who left after seeing out their deals.

Like I said there are fans on both sides who don't like players swapping over I like Mcdonnell but am hoping we can replace him,I don't blame the board for not paying masses of amounts of money to get the player to join our club which has happened in the past and we've still got the players to prove it however I agree with giving a player what they're worth.

So you're saying Rovers offer for 2013 was 'fair market value' and we've paid above that to secure his services?
How about this one - Shannon has come over and (in the last 2 months at least) performed to a level of which Rovers can't afford to retain him, and he's crossed the river to get his 'fair market value'?
Both equally possible.
2nd part of your post just seems bitter, tbh.

80K? icon_eek.gif

Possibly at the top end of his worth, but not astronomical. I trust Sandercock has some better value up his sleeve, cos I'm not sure McDonnell was worth that.

I didn't say that but if you are struggling I'll help you out the key word is 'undervalue'
That isn't 'considerably undervalued' though so when the quote is 'considerably more' work it out for yourself.
As for your point about being bitter please don't flatter yourself but I do however find it funny that a super coach such as Gentle seems to have the approach so far of 'what are HKR doing'.
So much for us being of little interest and not worth bothering with eh!

Yeah, 'what are HKR doing' was Gentle's first thought when signing Gareth Ellis, also with Joe Arundel.

It's posts like this (from a moderator no less) that make it hard for us as a group of fans to shake off the 'small club mentality' tag.

Grow up & lose the bitterness.

Dissapointed that he's going and especialy accross the river, it has also reafirmed my belief that its best to wait for the facts to emmerge rather than put your trust in rumours no matter where they come from.
I just hope that rovers have someone very capable in mind who can fill the position otherwise i fear that some of the good work could be undone, there are some fickle fans out there who might start to think, oh well if thats the amitions of the club then i wont renew my pass and we all know those type of fans do exist on both side of the divide.
In my opinion Hull fc have aqquired a good fullback at our expense and i also think he will get even better, they (Hull) are obviously making a statement of intent of where they want to go next season with this and other signings they are apparently making.

I think Shannon McDonnell has done really well, but even in these times of diminishing availability of quality, I don't think he qualifies as a statement of intent. Tbf, Hull have made that already with Gareth Ellis.
I said on the other forum that McDonnell is good but hardly irreplaceable - we gain a non-fed spot, if nothing else.

No one is realy irreplaceable in litteral sense of the word i aggree but, the fact that we are not prepared to pay certain sums of money for players reduces our options in the player market somewhat and given the fact that good fullbacks are few and far between at the moment means that it it may prove quite difficult to replace him.
Regarding Hulls statement of intent, the fact that they are prepared to pay quite large sums of money for players like Ellis and others does imo at least give the impression that they are making a statement of where they intend to go next season.
