'when my life is over, the thing which will have given me greatest pride is that I was first to plunge into the sea, swimming freely underwater without any connection to the terrestrial world'
Yves Le Prieur, the real inventor of the aqualung: |

| Quote: Mrs Barista "If your missus is craving sweet things (orange juice and wine gums), it's a girl. If savoury (White bread Spam sandwiches) it's a boy. Based on a sample size of one, but 100% accurate.'"
So if the craving is for wine gum butties, it might either be twins or an hermaphrodite

| I craved milk through both of mine (both girls) and funnily enough still have to have at least half a pint each day. Skimmed, of course.
A reliable method of determining sex is to ask the doctor at the twenty week scan . Apparently a "hamburger bum" indicates a girl, which is good for dum-dum as they do tend to be cleaner than boys, just like McDonalds

I used to like it as a young teen until my Dad told me what it actually was. I also stopped eating anything with pink icing when I found out what cochineal was made from. Can't do wine gums either. Ughhhhhh
I'm a complete fanny, I know.

| With all this in mind, I wouldn't be at all suprised if my suprise is spoiled because everything that everyone has suggested points in the same direction.
Thanks spoilers!
Look at that, sex on a plate, I'd love to sink my teeth into it.
Black pudding is a dreadful thing, though. A kid in my class at school used to buy it from the butchers on lunch and eat it out of the wrapping uncooked, he'd be picking gristle from his teeth in the afternoon.
We adopted a cat earlier this yeah because the owners were moving abroad and he's the same breed as ours, he's very very greedy, when he's asleep and dreaming he lays chewing and slurping, very odd.

Black pudding IS cooked when you buy it, dum-dum. That's why it should be sold in the 'cooked meats' section of the butchers.
It's a marvellous thing. Uncooked, it's blood with fatty bits. A perfect example of when you apply a bit of heat you can turn something revoltingly Red and White into Black and White perfection. Yum.

I beg to differ, If he bought it cooked I would have said "he bought cooked black pudding".
He bought and ate raw black pudding. Obviously, I'm ignoring that the pigs blood is slightly cooked to make it congeal but still, it's raw.

Wrong again. Black pudding as bought in the shops is cooked. It is the finished product and can be eaten like this. Like a saveloy, ham or corned beef.
Most people choose to reheat by frying or grilling, but this is re-cooking something that's already cooked, like frying ham or heating a pre-cooked quiche.
Beware of cheap butchers who do not know this, and dangerously present their black puddings next to the bacon and raw sausages. These are charlatans who'd be poorer if the health inspectors came. A measure of a good butcher is how and where he presents his black pudding

I'm going on the fact that the said butcher told me "It's not thoroughly cooked, just enough to congeal it and because its pork it should be cooked thorough before eating". The reason he said this by the way is because we had asked "will our friend die?".
Maybe this is why some butchers put black pudding in the uncooked section and some in the cooked.

Sounds like one of them there cheapo butchers to me. A black pudding is boiled for about half an hour and is perfectly safe to eat. If it is stored near raw meat it can become re-contaminated though, which is why food hygeine laws prevent this. What is worrying is that a good percentage of butchers are ignorant of this themselves. They're the ones who buy-in instead of making their own, I daresay.
I prefer my pudding crispy, though, so for my personal optimum taste and texture I grill mine to death.

I've done a bit of research, in hindsight I assume that the butcher has had me and my friends over, we were 14 and naive. Still don't eat the stuff but don't you agree about the raw meat above, looks tasty doesn't it!
