It says he's signed from Rovers. Surely if you released him he would be a free agend and signed from no one? Am i been pedantic?

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Here here. Will always believe the club made the right decision signing him. The most important factor in our 2007 survival (taking nothing away from the rest of that squad).
Thanks Paul, best of luck.

Ultimately i guess it's a cost saving anyway as long as you didnt settle the full amount of his contract.

Good point actually, is it right in thinking that unless there was a case of gross misconduct they will probably have had to pay him in full for the contract remainder?

No. Rovers will have agreed with Cooke an amount that was acceptable to him to terminate the contract. (compromise agreement is the technical term)
If for example Cooke is on 120k and he would earn 80k over the next 7 months with contracts running November to November it may be that Cooke accepted a fee of 40k to leave knowing he would be earning a wage from the next day at Wakey, thus saving Rovers 40k. (**figures are all made up, i dont know what the real deal is)

Ah right, sounds pretty fair I guess.
So, what does everyone think - Prince or Lockyer?

To be fair he was definitely made a scapegoat, but more by the club rather then fans IMO.
