'when my life is over, the thing which will have given me greatest pride is that I was first to plunge into the sea, swimming freely underwater without any connection to the terrestrial world'

| I, like many have been worried for some time about our lack of punch in the back row, other SL sides seem to be recruiting big, bruising runners who can also tackle while we have recruited Clarkson. I think we have some good props, but I seriously worry that we are going to get battered all over the place in the 2nd row, none of them will be able to cope with the defence required.
I don't see us being out of the bottom 4 to be honest.

to be fair that's a great point lets not forget these are friendly games better to get a bad performance out the way now than later this could well be the kick up the arris some players needed

| I might be delirious but after yesterday's game I wish we had radford in charge. The team would still be locked in the changing room now.
I can't think that Chester has the balls to drop or call a player out.

| If you could see any technical improvement at the ruck I would be more confident but there was zero evidence of it yesterday. Quick play the balls sucked players into the middle leaving the fringe a mess. Our coaches have not fixed this in a year.....
We look weaker than in the super 8s with no Chisolm(sorry Sandra he pulled off some great plays to change games last year). In fact we were a shambles in beating semi pro teams on occasion.
I really fear for us and did before yesterday.
Our best hope is Campese but reading between the lines he's a month off at best. By then he'll have missed Cas Wakefield etc. We're hoping others suffer injuries and fall outs to save us. Only Widnes haven't made obvious improvements.

Thanks for the unwarranted vote of confidence in us. There's me thinking Blind Faith was a 60s supergroup!
For my part, I think you will need to justify your rationale to be taken seriously.
We know it's only a friendly, but we played some really crap rugby after the semi final CC win last season, including the whole of the middle 8s. There was nothing in our performance yesterday to suggest we had moved on or learned anything from that time. We look stuck in a consistently inconsistent groove and seem content to turn up with a defensively generous mindset. Fine when you are playing lower standard opposition, but way short of the SL top 4, which is supposed to be our aspiration.
A better showing against your lot next week will do little to allay my fears, unless we learn to defend week in week out.

Someone quoted Chester as he needs his ankle clearing out. That's a month minimum but Chester usually gives a day rehab for a fractured skull......get back out there Daryll....Oh don't worry about vomiting...play through it...

| I can't see exactly what our coaches have been working on. There is no defensive structure that I can see. So; is the players who are not following the laid down defensive structures or is it the coaches who haven't done the business on the defensive side of things. It's alarming the number of times our players are simply out of position or just wave their opposite number goodbye. I know it was just a friendly but for goodness sake you expect the players to want to do well; to show some passion; will to win; to remember the game plan [if there was one] and put in a shift. Defeat whilst not pleasant is more palatable if the players have at least tried. It's going to be a long hard season.

That's the third time at least that ankle has been a problem for him. A bit worrying it's causing problems now, after several weeks off. Could it be why he doesn't run from DH much anymore.

| Think it could be the Testimonial aspect - we did the same against Featherstone for Whitings game.
Can see it being quite a competitive hit out on Sunday

Can he play hooker or half back........we're fu#ked. I expect Cas to royally bum us opening day.
If they do then we should have a new player/coach.
I can't believe I'm typing all this but .. ......Chester has us playing particularly n defence like an amateur team.
Relying on Lunt and Campo's fitness without adequate cover and no back row is a catastrophe waiting to happen. I'm afraid we're about to witness one.
I hope I spend the next month being ridiculed on here but...

| Looking at today's Hull Daily Mail, Chester knows any failure this season and he'll be out.
The three players out for the first month is desperate tho. Right on the eve of the new season. Bad luck just never leaves our club when injuries arise.
I'll leave my summary about our team after the Derby, but with who we have out and shipping neatly 40 points again, I'm fearing the worst.
I'm with you Burton. No wins in the first month and I want the club to act immediately.
