| Quote: SirStan "If we were to sign Carney then it would show that we never learned a thing from the Mason episode. One to avoid I think.'"
An on form Carney would easily be the best player in the league, however given he is used to earning over £6000 a week and Rovers would not offer Burns or Hodgson money to stay i would think this kills any deal dead, nevermind the other issues...
Many of the best and exciting players are clearly not Mr Sensible off the pitch but it does not preclude them from been great players, Gavin Miller, Dave Watson, Bishop , Stanley etc etc just to name some at Rovers...Mr Costigan is known to like a drink or three...
The game is getting sterile enough as it is without saying you do not want the best players unless they change their personality...if a coach makes a decision to sign someone its up to him to manage that person...preferably without interference from above...

There is a massive gulf between liking a few beers and fannying about in clubs, battered and suppin your own pi$$ whilst capturing said act for posterity.

| Paul Fletcher has hinted on Twitter than Miller will replace Burns, I did mention it on here a couple of weeks ago that this might happening, thoughts?

It's a possibility. Could be another player that improves after leaving FC to go to Rovers.

| I could live with miller at 7 and keating at 9 as long as we bring in an experienced, quality 6.

If we do then we're staring a relegation battle firmly in the face.

Some do some don't, Hodgson certainly has, but never got a chance at Hull, others like Horne and Hall, look about the same at Rovers as they did with Hull.
Not sure about Miller, he has a good running game and is very enthusiastic, passing is up and down, biggest weakness is kicking. Will need to improve massively to make a good superleague player, game time will help this though.

Possibly but we need to replace our 6 and 9 and realistically we're not going to be able to afford top quality in both positions. Add to that the clamouring on here for keating to be removed from the 7 shirt then we may have to put up with a couple of average players and one quality one to fill those positions. Unless we've suddenly got a massive influx of cash that we don't know about.

| I would have thought josh and burns were in our top earner bracket so thst means we have enough cash for 2 top earners to come in. Miller is supposedly on a very good deal at fc so he will again be looking for a wage in excess of his ability. I believe there are better options out there if required. I'd rather try and get fages even on a loan deal than go for Miller.

| I'd be very sorry to see Burns go - he's had a really good season for us, filling a crucial role for us. But to get the sort of fee that's been talked about for a quota player of his age - that'd be the silver lining.
Dave K, I've got nothing against Miller and his soap star good looks, but his confidence must be rock bottom. We'd need somebody to give us a lift, not somebody in need of one themselves. It'd be one of those cases where I actually would feel like there must surely be a better British option.

Fair points, but as Hull have found it is really, really hard to a decent half, as we have found the last few years, especially a British one, the two lads are Bradford are decent players, but have contracts signed already (Gale at Cas) and the two Leigh lads I like the look of, but again would they leave Leigh? I did mention O Brien at Warrington, if I was Rovers and with the cash they have I would try and hijack the Smith to Wakey Deal.
