My only hope behind it all is that Hudge is going to give him another year + , by which time Sir Stanley will be more experienced as a head coach thanks to his work up north and we'll be able to appoint the chosen one.
At least that is the only teeny tiny positive I'm possibly clinging to out of this, can only see we've gone backwards under CS. The fullback dilemma underlines it for me- bringing back Eden rather than trying Ullgia or Duzdek (Or even Caro!) at FB. Where would have been the harm in trying one of them rather than go back to everyone's favourite bomb dropper.'"
You're new around here, and I welcome new posters with open arms. I also (as you can tell from my avatar & username) have a good deal of respect for Stan. However, SL head coach material he isn't, and in my opinion never will be. Your comment about Caro to fullback doesn't do your credibility any favours mate.
Hudge offering Sandercock any sort of deal will be a disaster. He will see gates plummet next season if the clown is in charge.

| Quote: His Bobness "It would seem that Sandy is staying for another year at least, so be it.
It must be admitted that it is very unlikely he would have been granted such patience at most clubs. Especially with the new structure next year where 9th & below have to scrap for Super League survival in a 7 game mini league.
Don't want any of that thank you, but that's been our level under Sandercock and if the new structure was here this season then it would be a very real prospect.
People have scorned the new structure for next season but having seen Leigh take Leeds all the way and Featherstone the new cashed up wannebe's, it means that finishing 8th is upgraded from being fairly irrelevant to being crucial to the very future of the club.
What has to be factored in is the root & branch overhaul of all rugby matters from top to bottom being undertaken by Craig Sandercock. Sandy's immense knowledge, intellect and work ethic make him virtually irreplaceable for this task and 2 years and a half into the project it would be shattering to call a halt and go back to square one.
So often sporting clubs are scorned for their lack of patience with managers and coaches. Craig Sandercock is exceedingly lucky that Rovers are bucking the trend but that is the path the club have chosen. Having gone this far down the road it would be criminal not to see it through.'"
A lot of fans would argue after 2 1/2 seasons were still at square one with CS though.

Currently we're aspiring to get to square one and coming up some way short

It’s not really fair to compare, but…
Morgan got us up, kept us up, got us into the play-offs and won a play-off game. It was uneven at times, but it was definitely progress and it was all new.
Sandercock got the ‘transitional’ brief. It turned out to be a tough one – there were a couple of SL quality players coming through the ranks, rather than the cohort we hoped for. And the quality available from Australia was not quite what it had been. The board have given him more money to spend this year, it seems, but the honeymoon period was over already and it hasn’t exactly been a great leap forward.
Morgan made mistakes – the two year extension for David Mills, for example. But a lot of CS’s signings (and players he gave extensions to) haven’t worked out for one reason or another.
While it shouldn’t matter, Morgan engendered a much greater sense of optimism, a feel good factor. Mind you, his worst year for injuries was probably better than Sandercock’s best.
Sandercock has done okay-ish. Just about. Under the circumstances. People at the club will see what he does behind the scenes and I can only think that the offer of a new contract is based heavily on that.

| If the fans think Hudge is at the club everyday or Mike Smith is forever checking on CS then you are all deluded. I would say they probably meet once a week and apart from field sessions, the directors will never see the 'work' that goes on.

| Although not particularly a Sandy fan I can't believe some of the comments on here.
How can you blame the coach for what has happened with regard to injuries.
Poore & Langley Knee / Patela injuries very very rare
Cox & Laroyer Broken Legs
Cockayne not sure but long term
Lovegrove unknown
D Hodgson was out for quite while
Gleeson had to retire after not really making any input to Rovers
A Walker knee
J Walker knee
Eden what can you say ( Brain Storms )
Caro unknown
That's at least 12 players from what you could call first team regulars out for the best part of the season come give the guy a fare shout. And on top of that we have had guys suspended by a bent disciplinary system and our Chairman done a grand for telling the truth

Bob on with that comment MR, good post too. Feels like Sandy has a big black cloud above his head constantly, and that transfers to the fans!

| I will always appreciate what Morgan did for us he always talked a good game was very good with the media but everytime we went away to a big side I never had the confidence we would win and more often then not we didn't Morgans last season we scraped into the play offs with a win against a injury hit cas side them got hammered in the play offs same as in the season we finished fourth two hammerings in the play offs and the first season aside Morgan had a better squad of players

Another fully paid up member of the HKR victim mentality brigade.
Newsflash - all teams get injuries. Good sides just get on with it and get results.
