A 'quality player' will set you back over 100k, depending on the quality it will be a lot more. A player is likely to want a lot more to play for Salford than he would for Wigan as the giving up of ambition will add a few quid to his contract, so I assume that to win things your chairman will have to actually break the cap in reality, rather than just gob off about it to achieve this aim.

And as I've said previously on another forum there's legal ways around the salary cap. Plus it's not a lawfully passed agreement meaning the RFL couldn't really do squat if it is broken otherwise they could find themselves in breach of restriction of trades act. See that's a loop hole that boys and girls.'"

I really hope your owner has a better grasp of the salary cap & the governing body's powers than you pal. It will be a sad day for your club if he doesn't.

| He's right about the fairly significant potential for cap avoidance, if not the wisdom of cap evasion, though.

No he isn't, its an agreement between all the SL clubs and a rule of membership, thats why previous club breaches have been punished without any recourse to the law. If he breaches the SL cap like he says he will, then the RFL and other clubs can get rid of Salford.

Koukash hasn't agreed to it though has he? He wants more and if the RFL decline they are unlawfully stopping a company paying its employees more money which is as ive already said unlawful and possibly could see them in court and lose.

Be an idiot if he tried that. Anyhoo, there is the question of a points deduction which you have failed to come to terms with.

Salford agreed to abide by the rules when they got a franchise, this guy bought them while in SL and under SL rules, if then decides that he doesn't want to abide by them and he wants to pay what he wants, thats fine he can go and form a league all on his own and play Salford reserve team every week.

He can withdraw from the competition and pay them what he likes - Salford are members of the RFL, not captives. Any threat of a legal challenge would be met with a threat of suspension from the competition, while it is resolved.
A challenge from a player, accusing the clubs of acting as a cartel... well it'd make the lawyers happy, I guess.

| There'd be a certain irony in that.
For years most teams have had no one to play when visiting Salford as they were that rubbish, now they would have no one to play if Koukash followed this plan.
For the record, I'm ll in favour of another less fashionable club suddenly having a load of money to throw about and shake the game up a bit, I'll really enjoy it when Salford bloody a few noses.

| I hope the rumours surrounding Cory (and his family) aren't true but, perhaps, the recent heightened anti-Muslim tensions (the fall-out of Woolwich) has added to not being able to settle (the final straw)?
I'm not saying this is the case but it might be a contributory factor, because I work with a number of Muslim's who have been subjected to verbal abuse and threats in the aftermath.

All over the democratised world there are radical Islamists who are giving the majority a bad name and as such this brings out the right wing nut jobs as well. I doubt he would get more exposure to it in Hull than he would in Sydney, so I have my reservations as to this being a problem.
Perhaps we should wait until the seasons end for the player to speak (or not, seeing as he is on a two year contract), or until 9th August when the saviour of Salford announces his 'secret' list of signings.

My impreccable source knows everything about Rovers (despite being a B&W) so it is 100% true. Clearly, when Cory signed a 3 year deal, it must have included clauses allowing the club to reduce his money. That makes sense.'"
Then if he leaves he's in breach of contract.
