Quote: Mild Rover "One win outside the city limits this year isn't great at all, that is true. OTOH, we still have almost half our away fixtures left to try to improve on that.

I actually tend slight to pessimism in most things - not sure why Rovers is an exception.
So, 5 wins in 1 1/2 seasons away from home. Cause for optimism?

Quote: SirStan "I wouldn't say "ever". I supported the club's recruitment philosophy, but from before day 1 of the 2012 season, he talked about defensive improvements yet we went backwards in that column. The constant excuse finding after each and every defeat wore me down and I'm just not convinced he gets the best out of the players he has.

We disagree, I hope you are right and I'm wrong, 'cos that means the team will be winning more than I expect them to. Nowt wrong with having different opinions, it's what this forum does well (better than other versions). Lets re-visit this debate after the season and see how the 6 away games go.'"

The 'defending better' comment did bite him on the and was one of a number presentational pratfalls he's made.
The long run of defeats at the end of 2012, the collapse against Salford, the record defeat against Wigan - I agree that there's stuff in the debit column too. For me he needed that second half performance against Wakefield. IMO that was a turning point and since then the decision to offer a 1 year deal has got progressively easier and more obvious.

In isolation, no - it is poop.

But 9 wins from 18, I think is a decent return with the cards he holds. Plus the likes of Salter, Griffin, Walker and (recently) Cox, none of whom have more than a handful of games to their names before this year seem to be developing well. Alex Brown - okay he's not going to win Man of Steel, but a decent rough diamond sort of signing. There are causes for optimism.

[iOverall[/i, IMO, he seems to be doing a decent job. I'm not saying everything is unequivocally brilliant, by any stretch.

Well I am pleased. We have played some good stuff under him (I know we have been poor defensively, but that can be sorted)

It's actually won 7 Away in 1 1/2 seasons.

2012 we won away 5 times.
2013 we,ve won away twice,( & got robbed at Etihad) and have 6 away games left.
Just out of interest we won away 5 x in 2011 & 2010 + a draw in 2010.

A follow up interview from NH in the HDM about CS new deal:

www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Sanderco ... story.html

We're within £70k of the cap, and it will probably fall again next year. So now we know, on that.

CS is working on his media profile. As long as he doesn't over compensate - no glove puppets Craig! - that is for the best.

Stronger board, fresh investment, new north stand and optimism - good to see!

A lot of clubs, with one or two notable exceptions, have poor away records. Our Exalted neighbours have only won 3 away this season ( not including neutral ground game)failing to win at London and they only have 4 away games left as opposed to our 6.

Once again, (for about the nine thousandth time) Cab Idiot is a pastiche, a fantasy, a blue grass filigree, not real, a Siren's call on the rocks of doom, a Sphinx's shat, a philanderer of words, not even a ghost, not a fable, not a foible.

Quote: SirStan "I'm unimpressed by this news. Too many Rovers fans appear to be getting carried away by victory over a truly appalling Wakefield side, beating Bradford in a tedious (for the most part) match, and then victory over a knackered Huddersfield side. All of which were at home. Our run in may find us out, and I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but where is the next away win coming from? I will be in Toulouse a week on Saturday and lets hope its there.

We will need to win 4 or 5 games from the last 9 to make the 8. So, 1 or possibly 2 away wins are a must.'"

rugby fans in Hull seem to be the most fickle in the game. Coaches, players and full teams can go from completely useless to potential grand finalists on the back of a ropey win here or there. Too few people really understand what's actually going on.

As for sandy, seems any new investment into the club will be less than hudge and crossland have been putting in so what choice did the club really have?

You've made one heck of a statement there! Are you sure about this?

As far as I am aware Rovers Board have secured additional sponsorship NOT new investment.

By inference, taken from NHs interview with the HDM, Rovers will be operating on similar lines in 2014 as 2013, so how on earth you concocted your statement is beyond me!

Are you sure? I concocted nothing, merely using the information your owner put in the public domain
