Thats cos it's nigh on impossible to get the last nail in.

Lol, seriously though it's an interesting point - IMO gambling (or alcohol for that matter) advertising is unlikely to have any influence on a 5 or 6 year old in terms of them gambling or drinking in later life.

As these companies spend millions a year on advertising I would assume it influences people to use there services and kids will not be immune to those influences.

| so perhaps as rugby league is perceived as a family game we should ban alcohol and betting from all rugby league stadia? In my opinion I dont see anything wrong in advertising a betting firm on a childs shirt. Gambling is fine as long as its done in moderation. The FA have been sponsored by mcdonalds for years and there logo is on alot of childrens clothing/equipment. We all know what happens if you have too much of that!
To me this is just another example of our country turning into a nanny state telling us exactly how our children should be raised. If you are going to become a gambling addict I doubt very much the reason would be that it was on your teams shirt ten years ago!

| I think its a good thing, and i wouldnt of thought they expect children to grow up as gamblers if they wear a shirt with it on, but id say its more to do with using children as an advertising board to support a "bad" habit.
Can we have adult shirts without all these sponsors on please - they look milesssssssssssss better!

I agree my cousin who takes her little boy to Rovers has bought a childrens shirt for HERSELF because it looks far better than the sporting bet one.

I totally agree, i even went into the hull city shop and asked them if i could get a adults shirt with no sponsor but was told i couldnt.
I think as supporters we should be given the choice if we want a shirt with sponsors or not after all the sponsors are not paying me to walk around showing of their logo, i think rugby shirts look far better without sponsors.

Maybe we could start a campaign for the choice to have sponsors on or off our shirts

Good idea in theory, but do you think it could cost clubs deals with companies? I.e. if firms weren't going to be on as many replica shirts they might not be interested in doing business?

I hear what your saying and it did cross my mind but we are buying that shirt that afterall isnt cheap so i think we should have the choice, i think the sponsors get enough exposure just been on the players shirts and ive never bought anything on the basis that ive seen it advertised on a replica shirt.

| We buy the shirts because we want to show our support for our club but the reality is that we are paying £40 to advertise the sponsors' businesses.
Unfortunately sponsorship is a commercial necessity for all sports clubs and I cannot see any chance of sponsorship free shirts being available again.
It seems a long time since I bought my first ever Hull shirt and all it had on it was the club badge
Question - would you buy a shirt if it had the name or logo of a sponsor you disliked or disapproved of?
