Does he? Last night was the same situation as Castleford away last season, when Fitzhenry was at full back and Gommersall on the wing, both players being played out of position.

We look very tired at the minute, players missing and people playing out of position, for me last night wasn’t a surprise. However we’ll bounce back, keep the faith.'"
Agreed. From the posts I have read so far, no-one seems to have given Harlequins any credit. They did everything right, nothing flash, nothing too experimental. They are doing the basics right and are not in a flase position. They remind me of Catalans last year and look how they did.

| Quote: rover49 "Been saying for a while, we need a couple of players who can offload the ball and keep it alive, teams usually have at least one, we don't have any and as a result our players are not used to that style of play, which results in the debacle like last night when a ball get slipped out of a tackle and the Rovers player (Newton) is caught by complete suprise and fumbles it.
Quins were good value for their win, they play good supportive rugby and keep the ball alive. One player we should have kept is Tangles, he had the ability to get the ball out in the tackle on a regular basis or we could have nipped in for Danny Sculthorpe who does the same. Its all well and good signing top props like Vella and Fozzy, but we need some variation and we are not getting it and are becoming predictble.
I have said I will be happy with 6th and I think thats about all we can hope for as I can see several defeats coming up with our squad not been good enough from 1 to 25, we have a very good 1 to 17, but are bolloxed after that when we have players out. When the announce said what the team was I immediately knew we had lost it.'"
Agree with the mojority of this. Regarding the offloads, we also struggle to defend them. We look terrible in broken play, and attack poorly when we do offload.
I aslo fear our line being broken as we look vulnerable there too. Most of Huddersfield's tries last week were from clean breaks, as were Wigan's when we played them, and we conceed a lot from them. Furthermore, when make a line break ourselves, we don't build on it. When Dobson broke through last night and tried to pass, there was no-one there! It that was Leeds, Webb, Burrows or McGuire would have been under the sticks, similar story when Cooke broke the line (though I appreciate Fitzhenry was carrying an injury).
But my biggest worry is quite simple. We have no Plan B.

Haynes
Fitzhenry
Walker
Webster
Welham
Cooke
Dobson
Fozzard
Fisher
Wheeldon
Newton
Galea
Murrell
Aizue
Gene
Netherton
Spaven
Fisher is a must to try and combat Quins made threat from Randall, Haynes is not a winger and fitz is not a FB and that showed last night.'"
I'd swap Welham with Webster but agree with this squad.

Oh, there was. I am sure he saw orange out the corner of his eye and instinctively passed, but it was the referee. Why the hell were we in out away strip and why was the ref in a similar colour, it was madness.

| First of all, sorry for the long post but my thoughts on last nightare this.
Haynes should have started at FB - we have a 3 year license. For God's sake, let's use it when injuries and international call ups occur to develop our younger players.
Welham, Webster, Walker and one of the reserves who is a genuine winger should have been in the three quarters. I thought Jake was one of our better players last night and about the only player who looked interested in tackling. Welham looked fantasttic when moved to FB, I don't think we need worry about having to cover Briscoe in the future.
Cooke and Dobson should be our fisrt choice half back pairing. Both have started to gel (obviously not last night!) and Cooke did at least try to get things going last night.
Given injuries to props, Fozzard and Mills (he did ok at Hudds) should have started with Wheeldon and Macca on the bench. All the props should be rotated regularly i.e. Fozzard should not be doing 30 min+ stints.
Fisher should alway start at hooker and we should let him play for as long as possible. None of this interchaging with Fitzhenry as Fisher has gone backwards since we adopted this tactic. A 15 min spell here and there is not long enough to introduce him into the match, get into his rhythm and and read the game to make the breaks he used to do regularly.
Second row should be Newton and Galea - it picks itself as does Murrell at forward.
Bench would have been Gene, Aizue, Wheeldon and AN Other. We should NOT be picking Fitzhenry just because he is a quota player. I get the feeling we play him for the sake of it and try to crow bar him into the team to justify his presumably high wages.
Last night too many players were well under par. I have never seen so many established players such as Galea, Newton, Fozzard, Walker, Murrell miss so many tackles and show a complete lack of disinterest.
I have said to friends I go to the games with that we do lack strength in depth at the moment, and the superb defensive efforts we put in earlier in the year were bound to tell eventually. I think our only major, major weakness is a lack of squad cover to rest the likes of Galea, Fozzard etc. Unfortunately at the minute once the likes of Vella get injured, we have limited numbers to cover significant absences like this.
Going back to the top of this post, it is another reason why we should pick some of the reserves from time to time to blood them and get them integrated into first team and SL rugby.

| in depth but correct on everthing said imo.
After the lack of team spirit and togetherness last night i'm starting to worry about the rumours of training room bust ups and fall outs possibly being true. just didnt have the spirit of earlier in the season. I think clint is awesome but looked like he had a dummy not a gum shield last night. Not the only one but he just seemed to be disinterested with his hands on his hips a lot.

| Quote: cofr_rockin_robin "Fitzhenry played last year at full back against Cas, proven not a full back. Along with Leroy Joe and Goulding he must rate as one of the worst overseas signings I HAVE SEEN!
Get a grip Morgan , are you the Phil Brown (Tinker Man) of East Hull ?
Fisher has gone backwards but needs to start from the off!
Macca needs more game time simple as.
Fitzhenry is a winger and poor one at that , keep him there or pay him off!
Walker is not a centre , thats why Leeds put him in second row !
There needs to be a major clear out next year!'"
Are you for real, or just a simple a Hull fc fan?

Mills , waste of time.
Fitzhenry get rid .
Netherton average championship player.
Lovegrove , not good enough .
Walker - get rid never a centre in his life, Leeds put him at second row.'"
It is evident that your rugby league knowledge is limmited as Lovegrove was a player with one of the highest number of metres gained, before his injury and was starting to find the form he showed when he first arrived at the club.

At least if your getting rattled with the scoreline, show some fight literally and take someone's head off.
Saying that though, if Fozzard would have battered Orr, which he could have done easily, Super Duper league would have given him a lengthy ban.
You dont have to take someones head off to play tough.

| I agree with all of what robinho said except about welham at fb, he ran the ball out well but was well off positionslly in defence. He never swept the back line as a full back would, not a criticism, just he's not a fb. Better than fitzy tho'.

Top post and well written , it sums up what is wrong at the moment with Rovers. I too believe that since Fisher has been given his long 3 year contract he has gone backwards. He should be on from the start and encouraged to achieve more runs from dummy half.

I've been supporting Rovers since the seventies matey not one of the bandwagon lot so if I pay my money I have a right to comment. Fitzhenry is a waste of space and should be paid off and sent back to Australia. Alternatively just leave him on the wing.
