Agree.
It's going to take 4/5 years to build a team capable of consistantly challenging for the top 6/4.
Our main priority is to get to a level were we can have the full salary cap, it's essential! To get to this level and challenge for honours at the same time needs a bigger fan base than what we currently have. The number of fans that have been to home games this season has been well above the level expected pre-season. But it's like the team, we need to keep pulling the extra fans in. Hopefully in a few years time we can attract a 9/10k average.
But attracting fans to come we need a winning team!
It is going to be sad to lose some of the players that have got us into SL, but it is essential that we move forward. So, some of these players will have to leave the club in order for us to progress, eventually. Morgan needs to bring in better players than what we already have.
I think we have two very talented FB's at the club in Cockayne and Goddard, who I believe will both progress given the chance. I am happy to see any of them playing at FB, even though Charlie has just had a bad patch.
I like Steel, pacey, good defender and runs hard and straight. An addition of a big strong winger is possibly needed, even though I would be very happy if Hodgson (Salford) became available.
IMO we do need 2 quality centre's if we want to be challenging for top honours. Dyer is doing a good job at the moment, as is Goddard even though he has not got that many try's. I would love to see Craig Hall as it looks as he has bags of potential, hopefully his Dad wants him at the Robins aswell.
I am happy with our H/B's Webster, Cooke and Murrell as support. But possibly in the future, a running O/H with Cooke going to L/M.
We do need some big powerfull forwards in the mould of a Ruben Wiki type player. Vella is a star, plus Macca needs an extended contract, he will keep on improving.
I like Fish, he is developing into a good SL hooker, not sure though yet if Lennon is the quality we need.
Agree with alot of you, we do need a bruising, big, strong and physical S/R, to complement a hardworker. I dont think Fitzgibbon is the answer, yes he has lots of rep honours and bags of experience, but I just believe his best years have past. He would make a decent prop though.
This is all for the future and what I think we will need to become a to4/6 club.
I am very happy at the moment with the way our team is progressing under Morgan. SL status is a must, I would dread to think what would happen if we failed to stay up this season!
