I think you may be wrong, it goes on your gate receipts but upto a maximum of 1.6 million.Hence each clubs salary cap is calculated at the start of the season. Celtics will be lower than say hulls but wether hulls receipts allow them to spend upto the full cap i don't know.Large gates don't always mean large takings, ie freebies, how many are children, how many are pensioners, how much you pay the landlord.....

and how many pay full price.

The combined earnings of the Top 25 players must not exceed £1.6 million and clubs will only be allowed to sign a new player if they have room under the cap.

Therefor, all clubs vary so it would make a difference if you charge £10 or £50.

err no the salary cap is based on a set amount, not on a % of income anymore so in theory it doesn't matter what your income is everyone can spend the same.

So your saying, for instance a clubs turnover is for a year is £1,000,000 the rfl would set their salary cap at 1.6 million.

It says "new ‘real time’ salary cap system that will calculate a club’s salary cap position at the start of and throughout the season."...clubs will not be allowed to spend more on players than finances dictate, this was brought in to stop rich clubs getting the cream that could spend more and smaller clubs getting themselves in debt that don't have the resources to spend 1.6 million.Saints and the like will be spending 1.6 mill but celtic wont, hence still wide gulf in playing staff.

ALL clubs are allowed to spend upto a maximum of 1.6M. The "live" salary cap is to stop teams cheating in one season knowing the penalty wont come in until the next season.

Saints dont pay big money, they are generally well balanced, nobody goes to St Helens to earn cash, they go there to win things but I get your point

I personally think it's a good thing. It entitles you to certain privileges and discounts and if it helps Rovers with ground developments e.t.c that can only be a good thing.

Plenty of groups were set up to help Rovers through the darker days, why not now have one run by the club, to help us continue to build for the future!
