| THE MIGHTY HUDGELL LIVES ON. ONCE MORE THE IRREGULAR POOPS LOOK WITH ENVY ACROSS THE GREAT RIVER HULL. HOW THEY WISH THEY HAD A MAN IN CHARGE WITH THIS MUCH PASSION. WHEN HE TALKS, POSITIVE THINGS HAPPEN. WE ARE LEVEL ON POINTS ONCE MORE. GENTLE MAKES OUT WEEK IN WEEK OUT HE HAS THE YOUNGSTERS THAT WILL TAKE HIS TEAM TO SILVERWARE MEANWHILE ROVERS YOUNGSTERS GO ABOUT THERE JOBS QUIETLY AND PROFFESIONALLY LEARNING FROM THE MASTER SANDERCOCK. BE AFRAID BE AFRAID AND AS THE GENERAL SAID GENTLE GET YOUR BOYS IN THE GYM THEY LOOK ANEREXIC.

| Quote: Paul T - HKR "I actually agree with you and have raised such concerns when these events occur (cue the same time next year, no doubt).
The thing is, the comment(s) from Board level disseminate in so many different ways downwards and outwards.
For example, I was lunching with one of Rovers sponsors at the Giants match and we got round to discussing the 'unsettling' behaviour of NH (& RC). They questioned their continued support for the club and sought assurances about the club's future. I heard a significant number of sponsors also contacted the club (and rightly so) with Mike Smith having to go into damage limitation overdrive. Fortunately, this time at least, the sponsors seem to have rallied round and been the catalyst for the U-turn. Was is it method or madness, who knows!
For me, the concern is that NH has turned the annual 'shall we or sharn't we' (sic) spectacle into short-termism; as opposed to what ought to be a long term vision for the club. I am unsure if he realises the consequences of his 'honesty'; because he keeps repeating this behaviour suggests not.
In all honesty, and I will probably get slated for this, because of the adverse effect the latest event caused, in particular with reference to the remarks made by Paea's agent regarding the perception of Rovers finances etc., perhaps what Neil said about the shelf life of coaches (about 7yrs) goes for Chairmen/Board members as well.
In saying this, it will be a sad day when Neil & Rob do leave so I hope they have an exit plan other than the next round of shall we or sharn't we. I'm not holding my breathe. . . its not only a roller coaster ride watching Rovers but also living with our mercurial chairman lol!'"
Some good points. The difficulty is that it is impossible to construct an exit plan in isolation - you need somebody to be passing the baton on to, and if you've run your leg and there's nobody there... awkward.
You look at recent changes of ownership in RL and they were mostly precipitated by crisis. Where they at least avoided going bust and had a relatively painless transition, it was knight in shining armour time, rather than good planning.

I see. The strategy being that you set-off a series of incendiary bombs in your own precarious building in the hope that they won't burn through the existing foundations whilst bringing rescuers and more shoring props from the existing suppliers. Risky. Though it could work. Albeit, like you say, a short term, not to be too oft-repeated, plan. Trouble is, it's cost him a supporting pillar this time and my guess is the floor joists are almost smouldered through and the walls are showing signs of fatigue.
Wouldn't it be better to negotiate with a willing and supportive third party to pay for and build a wonderful new shop floor so more people could look around and buy into what you're offering? Of course, such a party would need cherishing and nurturing and you'd have to ensure nothing be done or said to alienate them. The same would go for your shop floor manager - you'd keep him in the loop and ensure he feels stable and wanted. Wouldn't you? Same with the building regulators, you'd say nothing to upset them either, or make them focus unduly on you, would you?
Any careless mis-management of the above could indicate that you'd become a liabilty, perhaps? Guilty of loving the old timbers so much you've stopped seeing the wood for the trees?

Why should they 'come clean'? Makes it sound like they've done something wrong. Fc will announce signings when they see fit, not when Hudgell decides.

No obsession here, just wondering why he feels he has a say in Hull announcing things. Since he's against lies so much I wonder what he makes of rlthis.rl

| Tbf, I think honest and discrete are both fine and Gentle was just being discrete. My only problem was the agent being neither.
On Hudgell, they did say they (he and RC) wouldn't bankroll Rovers alone - there's the wriggle room, I guess. There's other investment in the pipeline apparently. And a change of intentions - it can be debatable whether it represents a lie.

| Quote: Paul T - HKR "Didn't hear the interview but it seems Neil (and Rob?) have done another U-turn. IMO its great news for the club because Neil is literally the heartbeat of Rovers.
In many respects there are too many things coming to fruition at the club for him (and Rob) to walk away from, and if he had of done I believe he would have regretted it.'"
No surprise on the U turn now you've won a couple of games

And also calls Administration Administration. Which is precisely what would happen if he did not stay on. Where are the investors he wittered on about?

IIRC he said we wouldn't be doing a Bradford and that was where the use of the word came into play.
