There is no point a team like Fax running a second team or whatever way they want to name it. All the local talent is snapped up at a very young age by SL clubs who can flash the cash and Halifax simply can not compete with that and are left to pick up the scraps from most players that either will not make it or would need the development tools available to teams with more money to enable them to make it.

There is no shortage of RL talent in Fax you only have to look through the SL teams and theres quite a large number of Halifax lads, heck theres nearly enough at Huddersfield to put out a full team, but the way things are set up Halifax simply have no way of tapping in to that talent. Other than have some one splash the cash Im really not sure what the answer is though.

I would go with an u18's league and an A team league.
I think the bigger clubs need to forge closer links with the local amateur teams.
Possibly running under 15's and 16's in either a local or yorkshire league.

2 weeks in & none of our lot have played for Fax yet. By way of comparison Hull have 5 playing for Doncaster today (not youngsters either, 1st teamers). Is that taking the **** or are we just not using this correctly?

If we're not going to send anyone to Fax when we don't have a game then what's the point of the link up?

Maybe fax don't want them? It seems to me that Hull are basically allowing doncaster to operate for less than they would if they had to pay all of their players themselves so it suits both sides. Myabe fax aren't in the same situation so are holding the upper hand and will only play players when they actually need some cover

And this is why getting rid of the 20's was such a cack idea, players such as marsh, esslemont and co will have no game time fitness and will be (and with no disrespect to them, because i like them) unprepared for a super league match, should they be called upon. They also have no chance to prove themselves and potentially push into the squad on merit. I said after the fax match that with their squad our lads would only get in due to injuries, and I still see that as being the case. I know small clubs can't support big squads and the idea of the 19's was to help that., but to me it is another case of the RFL shooting themselves in the foot

I attended yesterdays fixture (Fax v Leigh) and spoke about this with a reliable source after the game and he said no players have been offered or requested by either club.

Listening to what a few Fax supporters had to say, they were told at a fans forum Marsh wanted to give his squad a chance to impress first before utilising DR. Fax suffered a couple of injuries this weekend so we might well see DR come into operation.

Be a good time for Welham & Cox to get some game time in a competition that is played at a decent standard.
