Quote: SirStan "1. Are you absolutely certain that Burn's ban was the longest in Aussie history, or are you winging it again?
2. Burns was a hard, physical player for Rovers, I don't recall him causing anyone a significant injury in his time here. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
3. As per my previous comment, what relevance has Burn's past record, or indeed his perceived personal traits go to do with Green's ban?

As for not wanting a thug in the side, I don't, and more specifically, I don't want Green to develop into one. Strong, hard runner, yes, but not a forward who takes out half backs, the props union would not approve. Note, this also applies to Allgood, but his reputation followed him half way round to globe and cost him a 2nd match.'"

I seem to remember him putting Blake Green out for a few months with a late cheap shot not long after coming to Rovers.
As a rule he seemed to injure himself rather than the opposition when he tried to do it for us, such as at the KC, when he did his arm/shoulder.

To me it looked far worse then it was, tall guy on small guy, unfortunately bully boy burns come off worse!!!! Some say it was a cheap shot!!! I think he wanted to make a point and put a marker on him, yes hurt but not in the way it happened. Also if any of you never saw the cheap shots burns did while playing for us!!!!! Well one word Specsavers!!!

It seems several fans think burns was a thug stan, fancy that.As I said earlier every time you cheap shot somebody you don't always injure them, but the intent is there.

Probably the only personal achievement Green will make in his career. Dog standard average player.

He's that average that it took the final hooter to remind him to take your front row out of his pocket, I bet the bunnies haven't got over the mauling your world beaters gave them.

I can understand it to some extent from Wigan or Leeds, but a Hull KR fan mocking another teams performance in a World Club game?...I won't even bother.

Shows how much you've seen Green, He has the potential to be a very good player and is rated very highly at Rovers.

Why don't we wait and see how Rovers do over the next few years before you spout more condecending shiite.

Let's clear this up, James Green is not a dirty player. His previous record and style of play show this. We can not hide from the fact that it was a bad challenge but i do not feel as though it was malicious. Mis timed big hit - yes, but i think the biggest problem was the size of green against burns and the action burns was making which was a feigned step and giving an inside ball which brought his body lower. This does not excuse Green's challenge and a defender has to adapt to this.

Why this has escalated is now due to Burn's injury. Those calling for a ban for green the same length of Burns need to be careful for what they wish for and sets a dangerous precedent going forward. The intent was to give a big shot and let him know he will be in a game, and not to purposely injure him. Which i believe also reflects the Meli incident from a couple of years back which was mis timed - not malicious. Anybody calling this differently I feel is completely unfounded in their allegations.

An extra thought - Does becoming champions automatically turn supporters into arrogant, obnoxious imbeciles? some of the comments on here over the last couple of days have been ridiculous from saints fans

A 24 year old prop with less than 50 games in his career. Poor lad might as well give up now if he's got no room for improvement.

I'll remind you of this when the inevitable happens and he heads to the NRL or another SL club for a large transfer fee. Who knows, Sts might fancy him after the roaring success of the last prop you took from us.
