| Green will play 80 minutes each week and is signed on for a couple of years so would be my choice. If not then Galea as he's got the respect of the rest of the team.
Dobson's got enough on his plate and should be left to dictate play.

| Was it the beginning of this year or last when both Vella and Newton were injured and Galea stood in as captain? I think it was this year.
Galea is my favourite player, intelligent, professional, defends well, but I didn't think he did that well as captain.
Fair enough, it was a bad time. Newton and Vella were out, everyone seemed to be out of form, the Mason fiasco was going on, but I didn't think he was very communicative with the other players, particularly when we were behind the sticks after having conceded. Which was a lot of the time.
I've gone for Dobson, although I do take barham red's concerns on board.

Why not?
We can easily pick someone else the year after.
I think the importance of the role is overstated, tbh. Just someone to chat to the ref, IMO. The clapping and shouting under the sticks, in an era of sports science and nutritionists, seems abit anachronistic to me.
But you need someone who, fitness permitting, will be in your starting 13. And who can command a bit of respect amongst his peers. Galea for me, if he wants it.

That's because you're a passionless scientist. A dead fish. A wet flannel. No offence.
Some times, and definitely at times this year, the players need a rocket. However, for me, it's more about having someone at the heart of the game who understands technically what's going on and make the necessary changes. Our defence has required some restructuring at times during games and this hasn't happened. Of course, this is Morgan's job to communicate that but it needs someone on the field to implement it.

I prefer 'quiet achiever'.
Fair point, however.
Do technical adjustments require passion though? Are they best delivered by rocket? I do take your earlier point about communication.
Always thought you were on my side and could see that it was thickiness that cost us, not an absence of Churchillan oratory or bulldog spirit.

No, I am. I'd separate them, rollicking's need to be used sparingly. It's definitely being a stupid team that's been our biggest weakness. An inability to go away from a game plan that [iwas[/i good but got worked out.
Again, I suppose that's more a failing of Morgan. Perhaps he ended up relying too much on GPS and not enough on believing his own eyes.

| Ben Galea has been offered the captaincy before but turned it down so i cant see him wanting it now unless it were forced on him. Joel Clinton may have been a candidate had he stayed. O'hara and Withers have plenty of experience. From these shores the only 2 candidates that stand out are Netherton and Murrell. If Justin was still in the job then i think he may have given it to Murrell.
My guess is Craig Fitzgibbon.

| How about the current players player? Certainly won't be the favourite, but plenty of plus points. Its obvious the players respect welham voting him ppoty, he's a local lad, fans favourite, experience of being in england training camps, and is capable of inspirational plays, e.g his tackle on Meli.
