Players like Netherton are rarely given praise while playing, its only when they are injured and not playing do you see what they actually contribute. Jason Netherton will never play for GB, but you will be hard pushed to find a player who gives as much, he is the type of player all squads need and I for one hope he gets another contract.
We cannot have a squad of superstars, you need your quiet grafters like Jason.

| True fans and appreciators of the game compliment the quiet, hardworking players like jason and wheeldon etc.
Really hope he recovers quickly and can get a new deal

| i appreciate he's solid in defence and penalties are rare, i just dont rate him as much more than a squad player, at prop or second row. would probably only have mills below him in pecking order. I do appreciate the workload (i played prop for long enough) but think we could and should have better players on the field. If i'm wrong then fair enough but its my opinion of him. what forums are for i guess

Thats your opinion & I have had my doubts but if you have any of our games recorded when he is playing sit back & watch them (once the initial excitement has worn off) then you will notice how often he is in around the ruck area tidying up or cleaning up the tackles. as has been said a grafter We dont notice much of his work in the excitement of match days as it goes unnoticed most of the time.

| like i said, workrate is good, but doesnt pull up tree's, suppose no props do but i know a few others who think we could do better than him. gives few penalties away too. just think vella, aizue, fozz, wheeldon, lovegrove, possibly newton if needs be are better.

But as a prop he may tackle but going forwards he adds NOTHING!

| He meets the ball running, he hits the line, he finds his knees and elbows and gets a pretty quick play the ball away, he allows us to settle into a part of the field position where a move can be started. For a game plan to work you dont always need to have a player breaking the line, look at Newton or Webster when they break the line, they pannick and throw the ball anywhere often losing possession and giving away field position. With Jason you rarely get that and its his strengths Justin uses to full advantage just most of the time its not seen.

You really don't have a clue do you pal.
ALL players should run to bust, you don’t score otherwise, from an attacking perspective, if the initial contact isn't good then hit the deck as soon as poss to get the roll on. Nev run's with the purpose to bust but then puts out a weak stutter before the line and dies with the ball. And to be fair, if you look at the games he's played in, it's not even a relatively fast play of the ball to warrant that style. It's funny that no other side needs a player with a similar attacking style..
Fairly good in defence, doesn’t offer enough in attack for me, although I do understand he's been playing out of position but as a Super League player I honestly think for the amount of games he's played there now, we should be seeing some improvement.

| Jason in my opinion is a very underated player, and does all the work that no one notices.I can never recall anyone ever getting by him in defence.I feel every team needs a player like jason and we would be very stupid to get rid of him.

Some people have short memories, a few years ago we had dross playing for us, now everyone wants 17 world class superstars that can do 100m in 10 seconds and score 20 tries a season each. Look at every successful side and you will see one or two Jason Nethertons who are the backbone of the side and without who teams would struggle.
I for one hope he gets another contract, I think he will if he can get his shoulder sorted, Morgan is not an idiot, he knows more than many how valuable the likes of Jason are.

JM has mentioned a few times that we sometimes try to score when keeping possession or building and maintaining pressure would be the better option.
On the plus side , we are getting into more try scoring positions , which we struggled to do , particularly in the first SL season.
