| Quote: barham red "Couldn't agree more, added to the fact that Watts was removed from our squad for basically being in Clinton mode then you can see we're addressing the problem. As HH says Seymour was a panic buy, whereas missing out on the show pony Chase and then signing Prince at 33 on a 3 year contract (see S.Long for the usual outcome to such signings) is a well reasoned piece of business.
Ellis aside the black and whites have completely failed to deliver on the postseason promises yet in Pearson they trust, anyone feel the emperor is lacking in the clothing dept.'"
I'm not prepared to comment on their recruitment, it's not really my business. I will say that they have recruited well in the most important position - coach.

| I think Pearsons delivered well. Arundel and Crookes for a start. We have a decent halfback and hopefully the second will be confirmed this week.
We've never had a decent pairing, choosing the really overrated Richard Horne there, along with whoever fits in a shirt with 7 on the back.
We have a recognised Fullback, some damn good forwards and yes, a coach who goes about his business well and is slowly building the bones of a future.

None of which has any relevance on our board, on a thread about Rovers losing a few young kids. Thread derailment as well as poor trolling, all in a day's work eh? You do understand that last term don't you?

| rover 49 - there is nothing average about young Petersen. Every game he played last season for Workington he never gave less than 110%.
cridling stubbxii - why is it that all the SL clubs are doing away with junior teams and linking up with Championship and Championship 1 clubs? The standard of rugby in these divisions has come on immensely in the past 2 or 3 years and SL clubs want their up and coming players to play in a more competitive environment. Maybe you need to go along and watch some of these games!!!!
Dave Petersen will be a success down under because he has the commitment to make it happen. Good luck to the lad and he takes nothing but the best wishes from all his Workington Town fans.

Here, here mate. Dave Peterson had a great stint with you guys, and I was impressed with how he stepped up to SL standard during our fizzle out at the end of the season. I'm sure he's got a future in the game and it should have been in East Hull.

| I think we may see more young kids going to Aus regardless of how much money they're offered by their clubs because they'll want to take the chance whilst they're still young.
Of Sheriff and Petersen, I'm more disappointed that we've lost Petersen because he genuinely offers something different than what you generally see from most middle forwards nowadays. Maybe he'll come back to Rovers one day a better player.

My feelings on Seymour are well documented. I didn't want him in the first place and still don't want him. He's an ineffective attacker, a very poor tactical kicker and slow. He's really the only Agar signing left at the club and looking likely to be shown the door.'" Ouch.

I know not everybody shares my admiration for the live wire mohawked wee fella, but I find it strange that somebody like him can't get a decent deal. There are worse who've got contracts elsewhere - how little must they be on? Unless he's just been left high and dry with what has gone on there this year.
On Petersen - like Sheriff, there's always the chance that we could get him back in the future and they'll always counts as club-trained now. They'll develop more by [iplaying[/i at a decent standard, and I can see why it'd be more attractive than going out on a dual-reg - both professionally and personally.

East Hull, Workington or Queensland? It must have been a hard decision decision for the poor lad.

| Workington for me.
Better countryside, beer and people.
Ainscough clearly has a better offer on the table, still rubbish though, would have brought the stupid hair cut quota back up but nowt else.
