| Quote: fartown since 1961 "Have any of you tried the M62 round Leeds on a Friday night ?? I will pay £22 tonight to go in the Well but I would not come and pay £18 to be miles away behind the goals.
Anyway there weren't many from Hull KR at the JS earlier this season and that was a Sunday. 242 was the official away attendance but more than Hull FC 187 on a Saturday at 4.30pm though they say there were thousands what rubbish.
I take heart however from one thing we were continually dissed as a crap team but now it's crowds I wonder why?
On a brighter note lets hope for a good game and some good banter tonight whoever wins !!!
For anyone who wants to Banter I look like an older version of our coach in a claret and gold shirt.'"
Are you sure you are not new to RL and being a Hudds fan?
The quantity of you attendences has always been ridiculed.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| I've said it before and I'll say it again.
There's a very good reason for Huddersfields poor crowds, (and to be fair, they've been building steadily until this season when everone's crowds are down, they averaged more than us last year) a champion team in the fifties and then awfully run, going bankrupt several times and nearly out of existence for the next thirty five years.
They lost at least two generations of new fans during that period and were virtually starting from scratch in the early nineties.
Most of us were either around in the early eighties or have parents that were there. I'm not from an RL family but was taken with my Mum, Dad and Sister from about the age of seven as we were a successful club. Huddersfield didn't have that.
These things take time to build, sure they're not moving as quickly as they'd like but they've probably got a decent solid following of at least four and a half thousand.
I think one thing that works against them is the size of their stadium, you don't really need a season ticket if you know you can just rock up and be guaranteed a decent seat. I'd think twice about geting a season ticket if the East Stand held six thousand and I knew I could just pick and choose my games and get in.
Also, haven't their season ticket prices reverted to normal this season?
In the past when they were heavily discounted I personally know of a previously non RL person who bought one for him and son because it was something to do together on a Sunday afternoon. That was about four seasons ago and they've renewed ever since, including this year at full price.
It's easy to sit on the sidelines and point and laugh.

| Does anyone know if the kids are on again before the main event?
Really enjoyed watching them the last couple of home games and I'll probably come over a bit earlier if they're on.

Damn! I'll continue to be a slacker in the hope of putting that right soon!
On the subject of the 19's, do they have squad numbers and if so, who's number 19? Been quite impressed with him.

good post...
its right we have lost a generation of fans, the 18-30 age, mainly due to those awful years of finishing bottom every year then being relegated. But we are building slowly now, and every clubs attendances are struggling this season.
anyway ill be there tonight as always!! come on you Giants, those moaning about the view can go side on stop moaning and support your team.

With respect, you finished bottom of SL, we went down to the third tier and have managed to regenerate a greater amount of support for our period of mediocrity in SL so that cannot be the sole reason

I will say however that Huddersfield Giants are second and pushing for top spot and Huddersfield Town are hardly pulling up tree's so if not now then when?
Huddersfield always comes across as a dreary place (As does Hull to folks from elsewhere no doubt) and the Giants are a brilliant good news story in that local area and still only get 5,200 for a Monday night game?
