Discipline and sloppy errors cost us.
I thought Withers had probably the worst 40 mins he has had with us in the first half.
Second half showed a few positives though and should give us some confidence to take into Saturday.

Don't know where to start first half thought the ref was poor had a better second half, thought Carlisle had a good game and thought hodgy was better in the forwards, thought salter and caro were good but when I saw the Catalan pack I was like oh oh, they're gonna be a force this season menzies is a bloody robot lol

To do what? it wasnt tackling or keeping the ball for sure. They were as flat as a fart in the first half.

I thought Catalan looked very good to say they were missing their main playmaker in Dureau, big, fast and skillful, I'll be surprised if they're not there or there abouts at the end of the season.

And the positive from this is were in 8th position lol still don't think Bentham has forgiven us for him breaking his leg #that was so last season Bentham get over it

Catalans were excellent, you wouldn't have know Dureau was missing. Big, aggresive forwards & Menzies is a freak, he should be getting studied by scientists. They've a touch of the Harlem Globetrotters about them though, today it worked, some days it won't, that's the only thing that might stop them challenging.

I thought we went ok for 15-20 mins then the weight of possession started to tell & we cracked a bit too easily for my liking. Need a bit more resilience than that. Moving Hall & Withers left us looking a bit unbalanced imo. Still, early days.

In the first half it was nice to see that we've balanced being terrible in defence through the left channel to also being terrible down the right.

We've also added not being able to defend a set on our line to not being able to defend one in the oppositions twenty. Far, far too many easy yards. Pryce cut us to ribbons.

For some bizzare reason reason we had Withers defending around the ruck, he must have made forty tackles meaning he was totally gassed when we actually got our hands on the ball.

Positives were that we didn't just roll over and die after they scored first in the second half, but to be honest, the score line flattered us.

No big worries, first game of the season, making the eight is imperative.

After 43 minutes Catalans had scored their 5th try to be 26-2 up, you didn't score your first try until the 50th minute. Yes, the difference in the end was 8 points. You scored a try with a minute/2 minutes to go but still required another 2 to win, so yes, they beat you easily/comfortably.

They beat us by 8 points I wouldn't say that's convincing really yer the scoreline prob did flatter us in the end but we never gave up, round 1 long long way to go yet
