| Quote: Burtons Forearm "First 30 mins into the wind was very good.
Second half a mess at times...no patience. The defence was good. They didn't make a break.
Quinlan and Hefernan barely saw the ball.
The kicking game remains a concern. Terrible execution. To get promoted the kicking game has to improve dramatically.
Despite the score we know little else at this stage than were a positive work in progress.
Lunt man of the match for me. Abdul and Scruton the next best.
Any news on Clark?'"

To be fair the wind didn't help with the kicking today, first half into a really strong wind we put up a couple of daft bombs and second half we didn't get to the end of many of our sets to judge the kicking. Definitely right about a work in progress.

Not a chance. I would not drop Quinlan just to give Moss a chance in a different position. The kid may have speed but very indecisive. We either stick with him on the wing or just replace him, not move him to FB.

One of the short kicks didn't appear to go the 10 before been blown back.

From where I was stood on the 40, the first I'd give the benefit of the doubt, but only just, but the 2nd was a bit dubious I thought.

Moss is a FB and a very good one just see what the Bradford say about him so not a case of trying him somewhere else

Pretty good assessment is that, especially regarding the kicking. Think we need to vary it up a bit, no seen an attempted 40/20 yet, yesterdays wind was perfect.
From what ive heard from Sheens, he seems to have a different outlook on kicking, especially regards kicking into the in goal area

| Just like to say a big thanks to HKR for the welcome at the game yesterday, brilliant stewards and supporters who had a natter with our small band in the Colin Hutton stand, great to see your fans walking out from there applauding the Oldham fans and also the players at the end of the game.
As for the match, well that's the worst we will play all season I hope, game had gone after 15 mins and we never got out of the blocks. Impressive line speed and play the ball speed from your lads all game. Best side in this division by a mile. Good luck for the rest of the season and see you at Bower Fold for the return fixture when hopefully we will put a better display on!

Moss may have been a good FB in a poor Bradford side. Quinlan was a good FB in a very good Saints side during his time there. And from what I've seen on the pitch Moss has shown nothing that would want me to choose him over Quinlan. So either Moss improves on the wing or is replaced. He's not a bad player at all, just indecisive. He can get away with that against our current level of opponents but....

| No disrespect intended towards Oldham, the wind kept Rovers honest in the first half and then, I am afraid, complacency set in.
For me, poor game management in the 2nd half undid the progress of the first half, which I am sure will have annoyed Sheens. At least Rovers nilled Oldham.
My MOM was Thomas Minns; it was a good solid all-round performance albeit greedy at times.

| After four games in, its probably unfair and premature to say this but yesterday was the ideal stage for Abdull to dominate the middle of the park but he just fizzled out? Yet, in the first half he had his best spell? I remain unconvinced he is the half back Rovers need for the Mid8s.

Opinions are great aren't they? I think that Moss is wasted on the wing. All game he kept coming in field looking for work. I wouldn't have said he was indecisive at all. To me he looks like he wants to be more involved in play.

| Firmer grounds will benefit Moss more than any other player imo. Looking a little lost atm. Does Minns have a problem passing to his left?

Abdul as always blown hot and cold where ever he has played. At Doncaster last season they couldn't work him out and didn't know which player was going to take the field. Featherstone ditto
This is one of the main reasons Hull have sent him out on loan. This season he is looking much leaner and fitter, and has put in some very good performances.
I thought yesterday he played really well in first half and did the same as the rest of the team in the second ( errors and let Oldham slow us down).
He needs time to develop and find consistency, if he doesn't. a spell on the bench with Quiinlan to the half's and Moss or Charlie to F.B. is an option.

Interesting, but we actually need experience in the half backs. I'd be tempted to put Bobby in the halves for a game or two to bring a bit of stability. Abdul put in some very iffy kicks in the first half but overall was OK.
I think we're all stating that the half back combo isn't quite working yet. Might just need a bit more time.

| Round 4 was a definite improvement on round 1 so there is no question we are heading in the right direction. So long as those steady improvements continue (and there will be some bumps along the way) then I'm very confident that we will be ready for the bottom Super League teams when we meet them.
The Moss/Quinlan/Abdull debates will continue all year I reckon and their best positions but for the time being I would leave them where they are, allow the team to gel and try to get the best out of them. Its pretty clear that we need to get the ball in Moss' hands as often as possible in space and I think that Tim Sheens is smart enough to realise that and make it happen whatever position he is playing.
