Quote Anakin Skywalker="Anakin Skywalker"I'm not just saying this over this lastest issue.
Agents can be a blight on the landscape.
This is a point in case.
How does Scott Taylor know Leeds, Hudds and Hull are keen?
Because his agent has been touting him around? otherwise how else do you explain it.
Having a few agents with so much sway in the game really isn't good for anyone as it just means players are distracted with talk of their next move even though they have 14 months left on their current deal.
Also has anyone looked on just how many players these agents have on their books?
As a RL club you can have the best coaching staff in the world but if an agent decides for personal reasons that his client base isnt going to play for you then there is suddenly a huge player pool that you will no longer get a sniff over.
IMHO there should be a limit of just how many clients an agent should be allowed to have.'"
That's coming from a very anti-agent and red & white point of view. Here's a different point of view:
The agent's job is to make sure that their client is getting the right deal for them, stopping clubs paying below their market worth and ensuring they're happy with the club they're at. Of course, agents stand to benefit from better deals, but it's not as if this is a big secret that players and clubs don't know about.
Taylor is one of the most brightest prospects in Superleague and has the ability to be at a top 4 club. With his age, his recent England call-up and the quality from the NRL drying up, he can command quite a decent salary.
We don't know what Hudge has offered him. Maybe it was way below what Taylor himself saw as his market worth? (We know Rovers are trying to keep the cap spend low). Maybe Taylor simply doesn't want to stay here and wants to move to a 'bigger club? Maybe Taylor has asked his agent to see what the interest is like out there? We don't know.
You also say that his agent could be 'touting him around' other clubs. On the flip side, it's not unfathomable that Taylor's performances have caught the attention of these clubs, and they've enquired through his agent & Hull KR as to his availability? Clubs can easily unsettle a player themselves and let their interest known, it can work both ways. It's very naive viewpoint you have.
