There are some at Leigh, who wish James Green would show enough fire to smack someone!

If he plays 20 minutes, he wont have enough breath in his body to smack anybody. May as well have McNally at prop forward!

| Quote: StanTheMan6 "Who do you guys think we will play at half back? To me Atkin on the bench is a wasted spot. He either starts or not in the 17 for me. However only way I see him playing is if Sheens drops Ellis which would be a big call at this stage.
Does Quinlan come back in at FB if fit?
Some interesting decisions to be made at 1, 6 and 7.'"
If we want to have a chance of beating Leigh then we have to drop Ellis in my opinion. I would love for him to prove me wrong but on current form I simply don't think he's good enough, pure and simple, he offers little with ball in hand and his overall kicking game has been nowhere near what it should be if he is going to trouble top sides.
Atkin looks a good prospect, it's a real pity he wasn't brought to the club much earlier and given more game time to get used to playing with the first team, the same could possibly be said for Masoe though I'm not sure what his commitments were over in Aus.
it might be a gamble playing Atkins against Leigh but in my opinion he offers more in attack than Ellis.

| Quinlan is our best back and apart from Lunt the only one who can unlock a good defence. He has to play if fit. Carney may change that and become our best back but he needs to sort his defence out or Mortimer may make his life difficult.
We have a decent chance of a win but have to defend much better than this week.
Keep it tight in the first 30 and Leigh may beat themselves.
Will we ever have Minns Heffernan and Quinlan fit for the same game...
Who plays at half I have no idea..Marsh was ok Sunday. Defended well took a good try.
We will miss Abdul in this one but as others have said this is a bonus win if we get it. Widnes at home and our fellow championship teams are the pressure games.
After another Solomon type display on the other thread I nominate the goose as board moderator.

| Quote: Harold Rigby Jnr "If you do that you will be in with a shout for the points.
Leigh's 6 and 7 may not be Thurston and Cronk but they are classy SL half backs and are currently going great guns for Leigh. Any team that has both half backs absolutely firing as they do will always take some stopping. Mortimer has been a revelation since coming in a few weeks ago, him and Drinkwater are controlling everything behind the forwards, with Langi adding some strike on the edges.
I suppose Leigh will be equally wanting to nullify Lunt in the same respect , and let their 6 and 7 control the match.
It is a fascinating match in store.'"
Disagree with you on the halfbacks, we've had some of SLs finest over the years but not enough quality around them, especially in the forwards. Having good halfbacks is all well and good, gotta have good players around them though.
Mortimer is a fine looking player from what I've seen, could be an excellent signing for the future providing you're still on SL but I don't rate drinkwater anywhere near the same.

| Quinlan has a better skillset at FB than Moss, but Moss is matchfit and playing well. A tough call for Sheens.
Ellis has been OK all season and ups his game when he can be bothered. The only problem is that he is ONLY OK, and his concentration. Marsh isn't good enough for SL and either Atkin isn't either or just too inexperienced. I wouldn't put Addy there either. ZDC isn't a great HB but might be worth a short stint.
I would put Blair next to Ellis to steady the ship and improve the HB kicking options, with ZDC or Atkin as replacements if a change of pace is needed, more likely ZDC as that is a dual interchange for Lunt and gives some interesting options. However, Sheens has only used Blair at HB once so I can't see it happening.
Masoe must play.

| If Masoe plays, then Sheens claims of his shoulder dislocating and popping back in is bull.
It takes at least 2 weeks for the tendons to settle and the swelling to go down.
I want the best HKR team at the LSV. We have plenty out, so failing to beat us should have no excuses.
I just hope you replace Catalans. Watch the RFL change some goalposts then!

| I would expect Leigh to have a good look at our left edge defence after Sundays efforts but i also feel their weak spot is Fleming and Dawson particularly Fleming looks very slight and neither are real speedsters.Neither are very tall either so I'd keep going at them and target Higham and their half's with plenty of big lads smashing into them.Sounds simple but will be a hell of a result if we pull it off. Will be interesting how the bookies price the game and what start we get on coupon.

Leigh always tend to exploit the strongest edge. That in return tends to make the opposition's attack weaker. Method in madness.
Either way this game will show just where you're at, intensity wise. Not sure what Mr Sheens has put in place to create those intensity levels this season, but we'll find out on Saturday.
Looking forward to it..Safe Journey.

Just had a peep at your page and the likely Leigh line up for Saturday and on paper the difference in the half backs looks marked but other than that we match up well imo.Feeling a little more confident about it than straight after Fax game which is slightly worrying as I generally expect the worst. How much of a doubt is Langi? Hope we have good game and Il settle for a draw right now and everyone's happy

| Only just recovered from looking at the score updates (ashen-faced, I imagine) for most of the second half against Fax.
When you're expecting to be somewhere around the middle of the qualifiers 8, it is like the agony of the MPG is extended over 2 months. One slip and you're struggling. Strange that mid-table is where the excitement and drama is in a league.
I'm not sure how much you can read into any single game in the 8s. You either win or you lose, then the narrative is written backwards. If Salford's forward pass had been called at the end of last year's MPG, the 2016 team wouldn't be remembered for choking and misfortune, but instead for doing just enough when it mattered most. If we sneak back into super league, Sheens will have kept our powder dry and the squad fresh. If we narrowly miss out we'll have never had a settled side and gone in to the 8s too raw. We're more or less where I hoped we be back in Feb - though Fax was a real scare on Sunday.
