I think Abdul is better than Marsh and I think he will sign permanently if Kelly goes well for Hull the fact Sheens saw Marsh as a full back says it all

| Quote: Binosh "It does make sense if read as a balanced opinion including some actual facts and not a put down to Hull KR.
They are BOTH in the champ for a reason, the reason is their parent SL clubs are unwilling to start the 2017 season with them in their squads. Both have question marks over fitness & weight.
Mellor is a quality proven SL half and is a starting half at Widnes, Drinkwater is proven at SL & NRL, Reynolds played 5 SL games as a 17 year old at Cas, Hampshire has been in SL most of his career and Ridyard is unproven at that level but is certainly one to watch for, see Gary Schofields published thoughts on him.
Anyway this is a an internet based RL opinion forum and not a crystal ball, I will keep popping back throughout the season and see how your new duo are getting on and what KR fans opinions of them are.
I actually really rate Marsh.'"
I am very balanced, in fact as a Hull fan you would expect me to side with you.
I like Mellor, he is a good runner, but he is on the own, look at how many games they won with and without Brown.
Drinkwater isn't proven at NRL and SL level, he has played 5 NRL games and only a few for London in which they only won one game and he looked pretty average to me.
Hampshire best position is FB, even at Cas when they had injuries he played on the wing.
Reynolds played 5 games of SL at 17, what does this prove?
The worst comment must be about Scofield, a great player, but terrible pundit, says things for effect.
Ellis is a decent player for a lower league side and Abdul has do much potential (more than all of those mentioned). For me they ar better combinations than both Leigh and Widnes, but as you say, we will have to see in the middle 8's.

| Marsh isn't good enough at half back, we saw that week in, week out last year. Tim Sheens knows this, hence the recruitment of Abdul and the plan to go with Marsh at full back (where I think he could have a future).
I'm looking forward to seeing how our halves develop this year, so I won't write them off just yet ta.

Don't agree. Abdull has no place in this team. Carbon copy of Addy who wasn't good enough for bradford in half's in this league. We saw Marsh against superleague defences and he never stank.few stand out games and few average but he was in a losing team.imo Smith and snide are nowt special but play behind dominant pack .In all seriousness when have we had dominant pack in recent year?Marsh will not get game at 1.quinlan moss and even cockayne in front of him.he is a half that hull player is not

Addy is not a scrum half though as most Bradford fans will tell you Abdul is and I've got to say I've never watched Marsh and thought he's been a stand out player quite the opposite I'd be worried if we were going into the season with him as our first choice half

We will have to disagree there. Matty is a good kid and I really feel for him. This long term injury came at exactly the wrong time for him as he could have really developed at full back while we dabble at Championship level. I suspect we only went back in for Quinlan due to Marsh's injury.
The jury is out on Abdul but let's not kid ourselves that Marsh is in any way the answer.

Whilst I agree with most of your assessments the fact that our squad at this point has slightly less quality than 2016 is largely irrelevant. Qualification for the middle 8s is a formality – the squad Sheens has assembled is so far ahead of the other teams it’s laughable and is much better than we could have expected. But to that point whilst it will be gratifying to win probably every round, the championship has been exposed by recent events as a joke “competition” which the RFL need to address. Enjoying the humiliation of part time teams whilst getting bladdered might be how some supporters want to spend their weekends but to me watching a close contest of high quality is more important.
Anyway what people need to digest is that our success in promotion depends on two factors:
1 Injuries. I would hope and expect that Sheens has had cash for strengthening the physio and conditioning side of things after the harsh lessons last season. Little point in having Sheens, Smith and Peacock all in highly paid senior jobs if we are not ensuring the players get basics like correct rehab and massage from a well qualified sports science department.
2 How we (and other teams including current Super League clubs) strengthen mid season. With a low number of players being available mid year there seems to be a naive assumption we will be at the front of the queue and the only ones to benefit from this. Have Widnes spent Brown’s salary yet as an example? Them and other likely candidates for middle 8s will of course also be holding cash back and able to juggle quota spots as they see necessary to tackle the business end. Leigh have full experience of this.
I feel reasonably confident we will get promoted because Sheens has done some very good business already which shows his pulling power, but there are very real risks that if we continue to suffer more than our fair share of injuries (and continue to simply blame “bad luck”) and only strengthen to the same extent as our super league rivals and not more so, that we could remain where we are.

| whatever happens Abdul in my eyes will only be here for 1 year as he has signed a long term deal with his parent club, so as long as he can help us achieve promotion he can clean the toilets , as don't class him as long term ,if we do go up we would be looking for a better player than him as it stands now . quinlan is a very good half back who could deputise should ellis or Abdul fall short

Disagree??? the kid is no where near as the halves we have signed, Sheens is no mug, and soon saw him in training and realised he is not a half back. To be fair to the kid he is not even a full back, why the hell we gave the kid a 4 year deal.
If he had anything about him, then a super league team would have snapped him up for peanuts when we went down.
Can someone please bookmark this page and rub it right in my face when he signs for a team in the super league.

| Again agree with zooks post. So we are looking at what bottom 4: of superleague will be and who we can finish above or pick of in mpg? Widnes Leigh Salford wakey will be most people's picks I'd expect?I have soft spot for wakey and think they have signed well and I wouldn't be surprised if they went well.hudds look vulnerable still.still think places 6-9 are wide open.cas if stay fit look top 4. I think If we come up its at Widnes or hudds expense..Leigh are a puzzle. Hope they enjoy it

| It's fairly obvious Craig hates Hull and wants nothing to do with us, you are letting your hatred blinker your view on Abdul, he has had some excellent games for Hull against a lot better teams than you will play next year and I feel with a run he will only get better.
Thought he played really well in the Derby and set up or was involved with most of try's.
I'd love to see Craig's face if Abdul's scores the winning try in the MPG.
