Any news of Sandy getting fixed up with a job Roopy?

No word on the coaching team for next year other than Andrew Johns says no, Brett Kimmorley wants an assistant coaching job, and Michael Hagan says his door is always open.

| Sandercock's still here. I reckon there's a job for him at Newcastle with Rick Stone back in charge.

| One of thr rugby papers has 'saints snap up burns' just waiting for club confirmation it seems! But we have dixon from london! Looks like we need a new 6/7. Next season give the captains armband to somebody who won't leave at the end of the season!

I'd be extremely disappointed if true, makes you start to wonder why bother recruiting anyone who will turn out more than average. We need continuity but how do you get that if your best players leave and your crap ones are released? In reality does this make Travis any better than McDonnel or Taylor who are vilified by sections of our support. OK we've got a few quid but unless we get a good HB and retain him for a number of years that will be worthless.

| If it's true that Burns is going then, IMO, we have to recruit in 2 of the most important positions in the team and only 1 quota spot available. Who would be available that will improve the team? Unless there's a superstar signing around the corner to soften the blow of listing burns then I fear we'll be significantly weaker next year. We're only managing 9th now FFs.

To be fair, as good as Josh Hodgson is, he's not superstar status, and probably not in the top 4 hookers in SL. You should be able to recruit someone almost as good, or at least with the potential to become as good.
Burns and Dobson have shown that you only really need one quality playmaker with one adequate supporting half, so as long as your replacement for Burns can do the job, you should be right. This is the hardest type of signing to make though obviously.
In Dixon and Sio you've signed 2 very exciting outside backs, something you've not had for ages. With a decent halfback, you should be better next season than this one.

| The thing with Hodgson is, you know what you are going to get week in week out. 100 % commitment in everything he does. That is the difficulty in replacing him I think. We may sign a better hooker, but we are going to miss his energy and commitment.

| I say that Hodgson is just behind Clark and Roby in the best hookers this year. Burns one of the best halfs this year, your two best players and really hard to replace, it would be like us losing Shaul and Westerman.
You are going to have one hell of a job replacing these two, the NRL is your best bet, that's why I find it strange you has used to overseas spots on wingers.

Have you come over here to avoid standee too? lol
I concur that on form Hodgson has been top three this season, but I still don't think he's top four overall on ability.
Rovers have a good pack, and I think if they get a decent half that can pull in defenders and spray the ball wide - those quota threequarters won't be a waste at all. Mantellato isn't particularly inspiring, but a high percentage goalkicker can be invaluable, as we've learned to our cost earlier on this season. Sio is class, and should be class on the wing, in the centres or even at fullback. I presume he'll play centre or fullback with the other two wingers signed.

| A new 1, 6 and 9 and a debatable 7. It doesn't bode well does it. Add this to the question marks over the coaching position and we are staring a relegation battle in the face unless we sign some real quality in those positions.

| I was chatting to a journo mate at Odsal yesterday and he said Todd Carney was a rumour going round for you guys. Is that one old news?
Oh and £90k for Burns.

| Burns is a huge loss to us,guys like him who give 100% are priceless. So much passion and will to win is virtually impossible to replace, just watching penrith v cowboys, jamie soward would be a decent shot, had a terrific game.Just looked contracted till 2017,so forget that.

If we were to sign Carney then it would show that we never learned a thing from the Mason episode. One to avoid I think.

| Is there a possibility of hohia coming the other way?
Can't see anyway carney would get a visa even if he did the thought of him on a night out, and he would go out even if we stated he couldn't, in somewhere like pozition fills me with dread. Would love to see him playing for us as long as we could put him back in a locked room after every game
