However no respect for his agent who's not only saying paea is to good for the club, but to good for SL! No player is bigger then any club, especially a club with a proud history in HKR. Massively disrespectful in a lot of things he says in the article.'"
Reading the article, the issue appears to not be with Super League itself but with Rovers. Mathers laments the fact that Super League is a minority sport in Britain compared to the high-profile the NRL enjoys, citing the greater security this brings, but also confirms a myriad of SL options are under consideration. However, there are none, it would appear, from the NRL as yet. Although he lauds the benefits the NRL provides as a result of this higher profile, he indicates that a bigger SL club would be a solution.
In fact, Mathers asserts it is lowly position of Rovers on the SL "ladder" that is part of the problem coupled with the instability associated with Rovers this season. He makes it more than clear that Paea should have joined a bigger club in England - the issue they have appears to be Rovers, not Super League. It is time to move on [ifrom Rovers.[/i

I wasn't aware we were that low in the table? Last time I checked we was 7th and had it not been for mr Ganson we would be 6th; 1 point of 5th and 2 of 4th.
He's nailed on for the NRL, doing a prince as someone has said.

rlNot my words, Mather's
Quote: moxi1 "He was a marquee signing at the time when he joined KR, and chief executive Mike Smith did a good deal for the club as he should have been joining a team higher up the ladder. It is time for him to move on now though.
'"
I don't think it was a reference to the league tables - and certainly not the current positions (he was on about the situation when Paea first signed) - but more with how Hull KR are perceived as a club. In short, not high-ranking enough in Super League for Paea.
The way I read it, with the reference to "multiple offers" from SL clubs is that, while a return to the NRL would be ideal, a move to a "bigger" Super League club is likely. In fact, the whole article is priming the onlooker for that very outcome.

| Hull FC have only averaged 8th over the last 6 seasons so that counts them out.

He's not referring to league positions, he's looking at the bigger picture and the potential of each club and what they can offer Paea. He deems Paea worthy of a greater club than Rovers.
As he has referred to a plethora of Super League offers, he will be looking at the ones from clubs who can offer his star the stage he deserves and the security he refers to. Hull are looking for such a player - you must ask yourself if, as an observer from Australia, acting on what he sees and from feedback from people over here - would Mather see Hull as a club further up the status ladder than Rovers?

To me it just reads as that Aussie thing of being brutally frank. SL smells of wee, but my client will hold his nose for a club that stinks a bit less than most, if he really has to. And he already has that option.
We have to realise that SL looks to them much how the championship looks to followers of SL. 2 or 3 clubs that could maybe compete at the lower end of the higher level, a few players worth having, but mostly second rate. Especially when somebody like Mather basically says it straight out.
The one thing that does seem slightly off is saying they'll wait until after the season to decide - that'd seem likely to narrow your options, as clubs look to conclude business sooner than that generally. If he is going to Hull and it is an elaborate and clumsy ruse, then for heavens sake somebody stop him doing an interview with Angela Powers!

In fairness, probably. But say you were tearing it up for Workington, would a move to Whitehaven seem like a big step forward? Or at a push maybe Leigh?
Hull can offer more security, and if he likes the area it isn't entirely implausible.
But saying so clearly a player wants to return to the NRL, if a SL deal is in place, would be odd. Even if it were a McDonnell-esque smokescreen you'd talk more vaguely about exploring options or some such, I'd assume.
Anyway, looking for a consolation, he hasn't strung us along and we've got time (and a non-fed spot, if required) to find a replacement.

So Hull FC are averaging 8th and losing over £500,000 a year.
Not won anything since 2005
Not offering that much to be fair compared to the likes of Leeds,Catalans,Wigan,Warrington & Saints

And here he comes with his weird Hull FC fixation.
I imagine the mods on here are getting a bit fed up of you.
