| I'm unimpressed by this news. Too many Rovers fans appear to be getting carried away by victory over a truly appalling Wakefield side, beating Bradford in a tedious (for the most part) match, and then victory over a knackered Huddersfield side. All of which were at home. Our run in may find us out, and I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but where is the next away win coming from? I will be in Toulouse a week on Saturday and lets hope its there.
We will need to win 4 or 5 games from the last 9 to make the 8. So, 1 or possibly 2 away wins are a must.

Can't say I'm fussed either way on this, in a way I think stability is good for the club and sacking coaches usually leads to just another season of upheaval and uncertainty. Have to say CS has done it tough as have a lot of clubs with regards to injuries and the shocking call at the Etihad but flip that and the losses to Salford and Cas were pretty much unforgivable.
The only thing that keeps making me think its for the best to keep him is who else do we get, McNamara would be a disaster and after that we're into untried coaches or a dinosaur from yesteryear.
I'll get behind the guy now and hope for a play off push and hopefully get a bit of a run going.

Don't think you've ever been a fan though Stan.
Quote: SirStan "Terrible decision, despite a half decent performance on Saturday, and an easy win against a clueless Wakefield side, we are gash. This decision will hit the club in the pocket, as pass sales will continue to decline, leading to a decline in cap spend.
I can't see more than 4 wins for the rest of this season, so that's 9th or 10th at best. We will be playing in front of 5000 regularly next season.'"
Since your post we've now gone and won two games back to back and our defence has improved. Whilst this knackered Huddersfield side you refer to had 1 days preparation less then ourselves which would have played a part but we dominated that game for massive periods.
I'm a fan of Sandercock and you only have to look at the progress of some of the young lads to know he's doing a decent job.
He's working with less resources then other clubs, Not just Salary cap but the amount of back room staff and facilities we have this all has an effect. Not to mention having two of our higher earning players not playing a single game yet. Sandercock needs for me a little more credit then he's getting. Christ if we wouldn't have been robbed in Manchester we'd be 6th and a massive 2pt's from 4th

I'd pretty much agree with most of that. I posted a couple of weeks ago that the McBanana rumour wasn't reason alone to support the re-appointment of CS, but maybe lack of choice played a part? A "shock" away win (to re-coup the points squandered at Salford & Cas) would lift his stock in my eyes. However, our away form in his whole tenure has been pretty terrible.

Those [iare[/i all good results though. I don't think it means we're going to go on and win the Grand Final, but it is enough to make the season fun and interesting for me - especially when we're in transition on a number of levels.
There are probably 6 teams with more quality and depth than us. That only leaves a couple of 'spare' spots in the top 8 and there are a few clubs at or close to our level, so the play-offs was never any sort of gimme IMO - even before the bad run with injuries. He's done enough under the circumstances to merit another year, I believe.
Perhaps I could be accused of lacking ambition, but we don't currently have the resource to expect to be dramatically and consistenly better than we are.
The run-in might find us out, but we've left it pretty late anyway - we needed a decision one way or the other to allow us to get organised for 2014.

I wouldn't say "ever". I supported the club's recruitment philosophy, but from before day 1 of the 2012 season, he talked about defensive improvements yet we went backwards in that column. The constant excuse finding after each and every defeat wore me down and I'm just not convinced he gets the best out of the players he has.
We disagree, I hope you are right and I'm wrong, 'cos that means the team will be winning more than I expect them to. Nowt wrong with having different opinions, it's what this forum does well (better than other versions). Lets re-visit this debate after the season and see how the 6 away games go.

One win outside the city limits this year isn't great at all, that is true. OTOH, we still have almost half our away fixtures left to try to improve on that.
I actually tend slight to pessimism in most things - not sure why Rovers is an exception.
