The anti tampering rule is a waste of paper if the rfl dont enforce it.
I'm not sure how limiting the players an agent can have will make any difference though because the agenst will just pool their players together again.
I'm not sure what the answer is though'"
The RFL are a joke full stop who ran it in the 80's god wish we cud go back to the 80's

typical Rovers eh
No point going back to the 80's as you'd have to go through the 90's again.
Hopefully watkins will right some of the many wrongs with the rfl
We live in hope

| Dodgy deals have always gone on, even in the eighties. Birch and Hartshead Moor services were rife with players, agents and chairmen plotting their nefarious plans.
Dave Hadfield metions this in his excellent book "Up and Over: A Trek Through Rugby League Land".
Highly recommended, as a slight aside.

| I've got mixed feelings about going back to the eighties.
Obviously, for the moustaches I'd love to. But on the flip side I had my sisters hand me down bike. It was sky blue with white tyres, no cross bar and a white leather saddle bag. I tied a bit of rope across it as a make shift cross bar.
Not a good look.

Where did I say he'll be handed on a plate? I said IF he wants to join us he will, one way or another.
Nice to know you wouldn't be bitter about it though.

That would be the better option.
Players aren't stupid, well most aren't, the standard of overseas players are going down so young English internationals can write their own pay cheque.
Has Taylor been a better player than Clinton? What percentage of his wage do you think he'd be offered?

Why wud I be bitter about it u just think ur club has the god given right to sign every player that becomes available scotty is a grt player and if rovers haven't offered him what he's worth then that's up to them to deal with aint it that's why they run the club and not us, I don't know were u get of thinking were bitter all the time, no player is bigger than the club wel move on and probably learn from this, what u have to get into ur head not every player wants to play for fc if so why are u losing more than ur recruiting for next season.

Taylor has totally outshone Clinton this season and he's passionate about his rugby u can just see that and when he comes on the pitch the game can change, scotty has also had sum poor games but no more than the rest of the team, I think green will step up now and it's about time tbh.

| Quote: Anakin Skywalker "I'm not just saying this over this lastest issue.
Agents can be a blight on the landscape.
This is a point in case.
How does Scott Taylor know Leeds, Hudds and Hull are keen?
Because his agent has been touting him around? otherwise how else do you explain it.
Having a few agents with so much sway in the game really isn't good for anyone as it just means players are distracted with talk of their next move even though they have 14 months left on their current deal.
Also has anyone looked on just how many players these agents have on their books?
As a RL club you can have the best coaching staff in the world but if an agent decides for personal reasons that his client base isnt going to play for you then there is suddenly a huge player pool that you will no longer get a sniff over.
IMHO there should be a limit of just how many clients an agent should be allowed to have.'"
That's coming from a very anti-agent and red & white point of view. Here's a different point of view:
The agent's job is to make sure that their client is getting the right deal for them, stopping clubs paying below their market worth and ensuring they're happy with the club they're at. Of course, agents stand to benefit from better deals, but it's not as if this is a big secret that players and clubs don't know about.
Taylor is one of the most brightest prospects in Superleague and has the ability to be at a top 4 club. With his age, his recent England call-up and the quality from the NRL drying up, he can command quite a decent salary.
We don't know what Hudge has offered him. Maybe it was way below what Taylor himself saw as his market worth? (We know Rovers are trying to keep the cap spend low). Maybe Taylor simply doesn't want to stay here and wants to move to a 'bigger club? Maybe Taylor has asked his agent to see what the interest is like out there? We don't know.
You also say that his agent could be 'touting him around' other clubs. On the flip side, it's not unfathomable that Taylor's performances have caught the attention of these clubs, and they've enquired through his agent & Hull KR as to his availability? Clubs can easily unsettle a player themselves and let their interest known, it can work both ways. It's very naive viewpoint you have.
