I recall at least two occasions where the line was begging and an unforced error bummed the chance. Could have been goodnight and god bless had the ball stuck.
If I can bring myself to watch it over I will, doubtful though.

A pass that was slightly behind hall which he dropped and a three on one that led to a kick instead of drawing the defender that was cleaned up by Hull if I remember rightly.

| Quote: BP1 "There does seem to be a problem with your fitness/stamina/concentration in regards to the closing quarter of matches. Today was another example of what, I'm sure for you, is becoming a worrying trend.
Apart from your three victories, the other seven games you've played this campaign have been characterised by a dramatic tailing off with twenty minutes to go.
This has seen three potential victories (Saints, Cas and the horror show that was Bradford) turned into dispiriting defeats/draw. Whilst the remaining fixtures (Leeds, Wire, Cats, Today) have witnessed you slipping away from potential wins in closely fought games to being a well beaten side by full time hooter.
With twenty minutes to go this afternoon you looked shot, and it was only my long expeirence of seeing derby games turn on their head that stopped me believing the game was won even at that stage of proceedings.
Obviously you people see a great deal more of your team than I do, and you may wish to correct me on the above observation, but I'm curious to know what was different from the Huddersfield game twelve days ago (when by all accounts you were excellent in the second half against arguably the physically strongest side in SL) and the last two games (Cas and Us) which have seen you finishing with a whimper.'"
The difference in the Hudds game was that even though we were getting tries scored against us, the team made sensible decisions with the ball so we got our fair share of possession and then once our bench came on Hudds pack were like skittles at the bowling alley.
In the second half Dobson restrained himself from always rolling the dice and put a few conservative kicks in to preserve our dominance.
I think because our team probably feel bigger and stronger than the opposition at the start, the feel as if they can play without earning the right to if that makes sense so they always make stupid decisions like offloading in the second tackle 5 yards from the opposition's line so then the opposition pick the ball up and run up field - the mount of ground other teams have made from our own spilt ball directly through poor decision making has been absolutely shocking.
If the team can simply play a more conservative game in the 1st 20 then we're less likely to run out of gas in the last 20 as has happened so often this year but I feel only the return of Green IMO is gonna redress our shocking and poor game management because I think Dobson needs Green alongside him to rein him in a bit.
If the team can just steady themselves hopefully we'll see more Hudds performances and less like today where we got turned over by basic, conservative and most importantly, patient football from FC.

Inscnsing the crowd giving signs to the Rovers fans. As a pro sportsmen he should know better. If a fan had done this to him they would likely have been removed from the ground

| Lets keep this thread sensible before the Mods have to step in.
Rovers only had 3 play the balls in Hull' s 20 in the 1st Half.
Hall should of taken the pass from G Horne

| Thought Hull were average in the first half. Plenty of field position and didn't do anything at all with it until radford scored. rovers defended well in the first half but then completely went to pieces after half time.
Not really sure what sandercock's game plan was today. if he expected his 5/6 props to blow Hull off the park then I doubt he's watched much video footage of us so far.
dobson was very quiet and your forwards looked pretty unfit and considering the forwards Hull had out it was really a game rovers should have won.
It's definitely the worst rover side I've seen since 2007

Good points
Apart from the game's elite (Wire,Wigan,Sts,Leeds) matches are usually won by the side which respects possession and territory and which team works the hardest to ensure those factors tilt in their favour during the course of any given game. Those clubs occupying the mid-lower end of the table (including you and us) tend to give themselves a decent chance of victory when they are playing the game in the opposition half.
I always have the impression (in regards to your side) that Dobson and ,to a lesser extent, Murrell work best when operating within a tightly constructed and well executed game plan. That appears to be largly absent this year (Huddersfield game excepted) and your lack of possession/territory this afternoon was always going to cause you increasing problems as the game wore on.
You certainly aren't the only ones for who this applies, but if rovers are to gain anything from 2012, you need to go back to basics and play a slightly more conservative game. As you point out, that big pack of yours won't do any damage either without the ball or by having to clear their own 25 line each occasion they have possession.

coulda, shoulda, woulda!
they were errors, not pressure on the line, the only time you got close was through dobsons' kick that hall scored from, other than that kr offered little imo

My thoughts as well, Jake.
I was a bit concerned at half time with the scores level. After all the worry during the week (on our side) about rovers "big pack" coupled with our perceived weakness in comparison, I thought we'd significantly won the arm wrestle, had by far the better use of possession and territory (contrary to everyone's predictions) and singulary failed to capitalise on our advantage leaving us with 6-6 scoreline at the break.
My worry was that having enjoyed the better of the game for the first forty minutes, we'd missed our opportunity to impose ourselves and the game would swing in favour of rovers in the second forty.
Of course, those fears turned out to be groundless, didn't they .
