I aggree 100% with your sentiments, i cant stand someone telling me how and when to sing, i just dont believe that someone with a microphone prompting the crowd to sing or chant a song works better than leaving the supporters to generate their own atmosphere.
A good example among many which you can actualy see on you tube, is outside of the city hall in 1980, there was nobody telling the crowd what to sing or chant, but the noise and singing was electrifying that day.
Fast forward to 2006/7 when rovers were promoted to super league and the crowd ammassed outside the City hall as they did in 1980, there was a guy on the balcony with a microphone continuously trying to get the crowd to follow his instructions to sing and chant, it was to orchestrated and simply didn't work imo.
I think it is and always has been much better when left to the supporters to generate their own atmosphere.   |

The reason we did the African one was because a certain group of "fans" (debatable) insisted on every song been about FC therefore we did that horrid noise to drown the swines out.
Ginge - i personally will heckle anyone who starts that "chant" off. I will also bet you £100 to charity that you cant get it going this season... |
