I can! - see above comments. Besides, it's against international rules to have 2 ginger centres!

| Quote: SirStan "Yeaman is a proper bellend when he plays for Hull, but that's irrelevant as far as I'm concerned when he pulls on the national shirt. I have cheered many players at internationals, both RL and football, who I have abused from the terraces at a club game. Perhaps its a tad hypocritical but that's the way it is.
He got the gig primarily due to his combination with Tom Briscoe, but I can't ever make a case for Welham in an England shirt until he learns a few basic defensive techniques on a consistent basis. Maybe a new coaching set up will sort this, maybe it won't.'"
If it does he will be a regular feature in the National Squad for a few years to come imo.

Yeaman doesn't have any further improvement in his game, I sincerely hope that, at 24, Welham can continue to improve. He's only had 3 full seasons thus far at SL level. His attack has improved, and elelments of his defence also, although I'm not sure stats will bear that out. He still misses one on ones, and jumps the line. Some folk say he's encourgaed to do this, but if you make that decision you have to nail your man 99% of the time.

I'm not saying I disagree, just interested in why Yeaman is continually selected at the expense of the better Rovers player(s). Can't be to do with league position, clearly.
I also made a point about Rangi Chase which you have failed to mention but that's as expected.
I don't play your silly games anymore so have a nice evening

In fairness, Welham averages 70 missed tackles a season. IMO this is why McNamara must think that, however poor Yeaman is, Welham currently simply cannot be risked against Australia or NZ.
The "partnership with Briscoe" rationale is rubbish IMO. Yeaman if anything holds Briscoe back by providing pretty average centre service to a very good winger.

I maybe wrong but I personally put it down to coaching (and maybe the problem has spiraled due to a confidence issue in that area), Kris was always an excellent defender in his youth which suggests to me he is still very capable of improving in that area.

Correct on both points....although Yeamo has improved with the pass he still backs himself far too much and probably always will.
Briscoe would be world class with a world class centre imo, we have seen his footwork, and speed I would love the Nation to see that.

We are still awaiting with baited breath why you consider Welham is the better centre than Yeamo, and what you base this claim on ?

Kris missed 57 from 355 tackles,and Yeaman missed 20 from 224 tackles.
Another thing is that Yeaman has experience at international level,
although Kris will have gained some experience by playing for the Knights

I said "averages 70 missed tackles as season".
2009 89 missed tackles - 3rd most in the competition
2010 59 missed tackles - 10th most in the competition
2011 57 missed tackles - 10th most in the competition
Average 68 missed tackles a season. Rounded up, of course.
Yeaman over that time period missed 33 tackles per season. Also, as you point out, Yeaman's ratio is better than Welham's.
I think there is a dearth of quality centres in the competition. Paul Newlove is the last international class centre we had IMO.

Can't miss Blake Green's tackle today. Eyes drawn irresistibly to it by the shocking red waistband.
