On the back of last seasons form, without a doubt, yes.

Withers will become the 3rd half-back option imo, we're very thin on outside backs though.
Including McDonnell I think we've 7 outside backs with 1st team experience covering 5 places. This includes Sherriff who's just had an ACL reconstruction so might not play at all in 2012?
Bit miffed we let Bulls sneak in for Elliott Kear, think he'd have done a job for us.

| With Hall I think he does deserve the no.2 jersey. I hope he starts this season in the same form he did at the end of last season

If we go with McDonnell, Hall, Webster, Welham, Hodgson - that gives us Latus to cover wing, Sheriff for fb and Horne for centre. Not too bad, but I'd expect at least one of Salter, Johnson or Heil to make a debut in 2012.

Well Hudgell said that he wanted our kids to get gametime in 2012 and it looks like he will get his wish in the back division. Its a shame that Sherriff is missing the entire pre-season because of inury because i think he would have been really pushing for a starting spot.
Much will depend on how Heil and Salter handle their first full-time pre-season but i really think that Salter can be our "bolter" of 2012 and Heil certainly has the potential and presence to handle Super League.

I agree, for the first pre season friendly, then look at the options and if he performs the best he should be in, if not he won't.

| Re: Craig Hall
Sandercock stated at the Fans Forum he rated Craig, and saw him in a number of positions and even hinted at 1,2 & 6.
For me Craig has come on leaps and bounds since arriving at Rovers, and the stint under Deighton's tutelage shouldnt be overlooked in the early part of last season. As a product of that I thought Craig deserved his place in the team. Every time he rec'd the ball he looked threatening. Okay he bombed quite a number of chances but I think he was instrumental in Rovers late surge, scoring some important/timely tries.
I would give Craig the No2 shirt without a shadow of doubt.

I would agree his combination with Ginge was starting to work and when Dobbo and Green get into the party with kicks that wing will profit in try scoring opertunities. I am looking forward to our backs ripping it up next season with the pack we have assembled to play behind, the speed we will have accross the back line is going to be unreal even Hodgson has a turn of pace at his age and is well matched with Webster in the strength department who is no slouch himself when he runs. So Hodgson, Webster, Mcdonnel, Ginge and Hall playing of Dobbo and Green will be a sight not many teams will relish, I can see a few long range sweeping moves next year. The influx of young and hungry forwards with their offloading ability should see a more mobile and unpredictable pack gain momentum for the backs to benifit from, I can't see Ginge running away with top try scorer this year I would guess it will be spread around the team with some of the pack chipping in a fair few points.

Hally definately looked more comfortable on the left wing and his partnership with Welham has got the potential to be lethal. However, Dave Hodgson has played the majority of his career on the left side of the field i think.
An early situation for Sandercock to get his head around. Unless of course Sam Latus will take the right wing spot and the other two battle for the left.

All options are open I suppose it's about who impresses.
Those clips of McDonnell stepping and evading tacklers with runs from full back do look impressive (yes I know it's only highlights!). And Hall on the left wing at the back end of the season, well he made the Super League team of the month for September and deservedly so.
For me the one who should be worried is David Hodgson. He may be a new signing but don't think that will cut any ice with Sandercock.
Also perhaps young winger David Scott might force himself into the picture after his 2 try debut for Scotland.

Could be interesting, Pryce was a great conversion from winger to stand off and Hall is of similar stature and pace, can kick and handles well. Maybe Green to loose forward.
