Those who follow the path of the righteous:
shall have their reward.: |
|
| Good luck Justin, wishing you all the best and so many thanks for all you have done for Hull Kingston Rovers in your 6 years in charge. (All mentioned by previous posters)
You deserve to be up there in the K.R. Hall of Fame.
As for a new coach? I'm hoping and praying that Iestyn Harris stays in Wales!!
Got to hope for Brian Noble, someone with experience, for next season at least, to capitalise on Dobson and Green signing new contracts. Someone who can attract more class players to the squad.

| It's both a shame and the right thing - if that makes sense. He achieved what he set out to do and it has been flippin' impressive. Now we have to have new targets and a new coach to (hopefully) achieve them.
I wish Justin Morgan every success in the future.

| For what its worth i like Morgan and rate him highly as a coach.
But his time at KR has come to a natural end, maybe he should have gone earlier as some fans will now only remember him for recent events etc rather than how far he has taken the club.
I wish him all the best for his future as im sure he'll have a good one

Kind words Karl, no doubt influenced by his recent coaching visit where you sang his prasies. I have met him many times, as he lives just a few doors away, and he is a genuine bloke who always has time for people. I hope he gets the Cas job so he can commute and stay local.
History will remember his stint at Rovers as very successful, considering the start and end points of the journey.

| I will gladly admit that the seasons 2006 - mid 2009 where the most enjoyable as a Rovers fan since the early 90s, the rugby in the promotion season was fantastic , the cup win against Warrington, the brave performance by a scratch team against Sts in the semi, and obviously the play off win were massive highlights and a breath of fresh air .
Then the great achievement of staying up , one of the best away wins ever at Wigan, the 42-6 derby , wins in France and the continued derby dominance in 08 an 09 and culminating in the 4th place finish in 09. All fantastic and "great to be a Rovers fan" moments in time without doubt.
However i say mid 09 despite the 4th place finish because i became aware JM had made some decisions about the future path of the club which i completely disagreed with and i have been a critic ever since. I think the downward silde since then confirms my fear . We are in effect behind schedule as to where we should have been. He had a "blank canvass" and good money to spend but wouldnt stray far from the nest in spending it unfortunately and his choice in only listening to the opinions of certain players (and coaching staff)and disregarding all others is not good squad management in my view. This coupled with his rigidity (which wasnt apparent in the first two seasons at least) has led to the current situation. I think JM must realise it is of his own making and no-one elses. This experience should help him become a better coach in the future and , away from his decisions on Rovers, he is a "good bloke". I think the chairman is genuinely sorrowful that it has come to this.
I think the decision is the correct one but i really thank Justin for been part of some great moments and memories . He will always have his place in Rovers history.
The problem we have now is that the new guy comes in without much of "blank canvass" without much room to work and it will take perhaps another 3 years before we see us really punching our weight.
Unless it is a complete disaster from minute one then i will have to restrain myself from jumping on the new incumbents back too early....

Well put Larry, what I would say is although the new man will not have a blank canvas he will be starting from a much better position than Justin did. I know we disagree about certain players (namely the 2 who signed long deals yesterday) but that aside the rest of the squad are in a position where they can be either retained or released either now or next year so it will give him some scope provided he can be found very soon (if he already hasn't).
3 years to punch our wait will be acceptable IF we can at least improve steadily in that time.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Genuinely interested, will you be able to share the gist of these decisions once he's gone?
I'll understand if you can't Bazza.

Really important this. No club ever prospers from constantly changing the coach, the new guy needs at least eighteen to twenty four months.
