Just done mine, if I get all the tickets I've applied for (which I won't because some are for really popular events) it'll set me back just short of fifteen hundred quid. Ms. pmh will go mental when she gets back from work!'"
Morning, gorgeous. What events have you gone for? Clay-pigeon shooting? What a lovely weekend I've had. 5 and a half hours of good mood left. Shopping for kids cagoules at Millets shortly. Top activity for a Bank Holiday.

Bit of all sorts, 100m final, so no chance of that really.
Afternoon session and evening session of the second day of the heptathlon, so hopefully Jessica Ennis won't be injured for once next year. All the athletics will be heavily over subscribed so that's fingers crossed.
Some of the boxing finals, so again, probably won't get in for that.
Men's track cycling sprint finals, again, I'll need a lot of luck to get in for that.
Some gymnastics, don't know anything about it but I find it incredible as to what they can do, might have a chance with that.
Weightlifting, might have a chance with that, only ever watch it at the Olympics.
I might add a couple more things later on.
You're taking the kids to Millets? Have they been naughty?

I'd read somewhere that they take payments from everyone who has applied so that there is a pool of people who have paid, they then select the 'winners' and refund the people who are unsuccessful.

Not correct as far as i am aware; i got told you only pay for what you have been selected for.
Was watching something this morning and it said that they applied for everything they wanted to see - if they got them all it would of been 25k!!!

Yes, and you can also sell them back at face value if by some miracle you do get all the tickets you apply for.
I'll definitely get to something, even if it's archery or something I wouldn't not normally be interested in. You can't have the Olympics in your own country and not go.

Yes you can, i have no interest in going and paying for that in the slightest.

| I know what you mean, but I suppose for me it's because I've always wanted to go since Moscow 1980.
It's an absolute rip off if you look at it in purely monetary terms as the ticket prices I think are outrageous (although I think that's because, relatively speaking, RL is quite cheap when compared to say, the Premiership) and no doubt accommodation will be as well, but it's a real "I was there" moment.

All good choices. We've gone for diving (no chance) and tae kwondo. As a statto, I'd like to know my chances. Weightlifting makes me cringe though, how mad is it when the bar is bending? It's all so macho. One of the trainers at my gym was telling me in a show-off way about how they'd done some sort of competitive lifting marathon thing, he'd "pressed a tonne" then blacked out. Came round and then continued. Now, I know I'm a bit lazy, but really?
Millets is rubbish, but needs must for the waterproofs, unfortunately. At least it's not as pretentious as those posh outdoor sport shops, where you pay 300 notes for a ski jacket. Pi$$ing contest about who's got the most nobbish brand of extreme arctic-proofing. To rail against this, me and the daughter have gone for wafer thin "festival" style cagoules with nice little patterns on that won't withstand any rain whatsoever, just to, you know, make a statement.

Just put im my last minute application, on a tight budget so only had a couple of hundred quid to spend.
Tennis at Wimbledon
Heavy Weight & Super Heavy Weight Boxing
Athelitics - Taken a punt on the Mens & Womans 100m but don't hold out much hope
Will also be in London for some of the 'free' events
Might also take a trip up to Old Trafford for a couple of football games.

I re-read it and it says that you should make sure that you have the funds available in your account for any events you have chosen and it gives a date, 6th June or something like that, It then says that these funds may be taken for your account for events chosen but this does not mean that you have been successful and that you will find out by 28th June if you have been successful and if you have already had funds taken from your account and have failed to be lucky enough to get tickets, you will be refunded. Don't quote me on the dates as the leaflet is not to hand at the moment, If I can get a hold of it again I will post it.

Good luck, I applied for quite a bit of athletics when the Commonwealth's were in Manchester. Didn't get any! I did get across for a few of the other events, boxing semi finals (David Haye was unfortunately injured, but was sat about ten rows in front of me) and
