| Quote: Bertie "Nice sidestep Mrs B.
Surprised you didn't feel the need to comment about the thread on your own forum where "fans" comment on which opposition player they would like the so called tongan mafia to injure.
Will it be a weekly competetion with prizes ?'"
People wishing injuries on players are stupid. End of story.
I do like to see a bit of biff, however. As mentioned in the other thread, if the video of the testimonial shows that Newton's shot on Long was late and high, I'd hope there'd be an FC welcoming committee for him in the next derby.
Trying to take some sort of violent conduct moral highground against FC fans as a collective, when your own choose to continue direct sponsorship of Ben Cockayne, is frankly laughable.

Ben Cockayne is sponsored as a Hull Kingston Rovers Rugby League player.

If you asked me if I would put Cockayne in the top five players I disliked the most,I would reply yes.
If you asked me if I would like to see said player injured,I would reply no. I don`t like to see any player injured, amongst I would think most R.L. fans.

Do you think it will worry him its a contact sport and these things happen, he has been on the receiving end quite a few times and it doesn't bother him, he just gets on with it.
Lets see how you feel when the inevitable late, high shot from an FC player is dished out.
Long is also, no angel.

Conceptus.
I think you are missing the point. You were attempting to bait me with the fact that a few half wits (that's being kind) were making stupid comments about the Tongan Mafia. I condemned those comments. Yet it's clear that a rather large group of Rovers fans chose to sponsor a player convicted in the last year of kicking someone on the floor 20 odd times, when there were other young squad members without sponsorship to choose from at the time. I think you'd be hard-pressed to claim any sort of moral high ground about Rovers fans collectively condemning violent behaviour. Both sets of supporters have a minority of idiots. Deal with it.

Not at all. He's pretty arrogant, and rightly so for a player of his ability. Long is no angel, granted, but he's not a cheap shot merchant either.

At the time Taylor at least was without sponsorship and there was a debate about whether it would be better to sponsor a young homegrown player. It was therefore an active choice to sponsor Cockayne ahead of Taylor.
Sponsor who you like. But Bertie can't shout the odds that Rovers fans collectively have some holier than thou attitude towards player thuggery when you're directly bankrolling Mr CCTV.

Incorrect again.
It was pretty conclusive that Ben Cockyane would be sponsored by the Fans Forum once again.
The only time it was suggested that perhaps a junior member of the squad would be a better option was when the fund wasnt at the amount required but then once Xmas was over people came up with the cash.
Taylor, Beaumont etc were cheaper to sponsor then a seasoned pro like Ben thats all.
I suggest you and Bertie take it to PM if you must.
Ben was dealt with by the courts and if you take the stance of dragging it up then Rovers fans im sure will mention Manu and Raynor etc.
But id rather it was kept off the forum as it gets tedious.

Totally agree. Any discussion on raynor should be on the crusaders board

How strange. On the 30th September you started a thread called Forum Player Sponsorship 2010 with
"This created diverse views last season. Id be interested to hear peoples views with regards 2010 season." and invited views on whether the forum should keep sponsoring and if so whether it should be Ben Cockayne. 10 respondents said Cockayne, 8 backed a younger homegrown player and 9 didn't mind. That's hardly overwhelming. The last post on this, with many supporting the idea of a younger player, was 7th October, two and a half months before the Christmas

Overwhelming enough for the money to have been raised.
It created debate around the time of the court case which was natural.
Ben will be sponsored by the Fans Forum for the rest of his Rovers career.
