| I agree with most, if he is moving on, it's what JM sees as best for the club. Lets face it, he has not done such a bad job so far!!!!!!!! I also am a fan of Aizue and he gets my best wishes for his future!
My best memories of him are: the barn storming run at the start of the NL GF match against Widnes (along with Michael Smith), sent shivers down my spine, and I just knew we were going to win from that moment. The other, him picking up the ball to score against Warrington in the CC, kick from Webster (I think) rebounded off the post and he was there to score.
Thanks and good luck Makka

Your good friend/alter ego made the quote about FC. Just pointing out the irony when Aizue's been out for 3 months with "issues with his game". Is the issue that he's not been playing any? This article in the Mail doesn't equate to "the club letting you all know", the HDM gets most of it's stories off here.
I think it's common knowledge that Aizue's time at Rovers has come to an end. As an outsider he seems to have been an integral part of your meteoric rise and a forward to worry about for opposition defences. Some nice stories on here as well, so wish him well.

| In a way this is a similar situation to letting Webster go last year, great servant, great bloke, integral part in our rise but at the end of the day not many would argue it was the wrong decision to make.
I too don't know the full ins and outs of the makka 'situation' but JM and the board do and feel the time is right for us to part ways. For all we know it might have been makka's choice financially and personally.
I fully expect to see Mills move on this year and we know a few others are too, but to drag in the likes of Fisher and Galea, who aside from a dip in form during our mid season dip were off the pace, have been very good is a bit laughable.
JM's judgement on when to replace a player has been right a far more times than its been wrong, in fact I struggle to think of a player who has been moved along who I wish we'd have kept even with hindsight. So I think we need to go along with this as far too many clubs bow to sentment and suffer for it.
Hopefully we get to give Makali the East stand send off he deserves, beit this week or in the home play off game in 3 or 4 weeks and wish him all the best. He'll always be welcomed back and thanks for the memories.

| The comparison with Mills falls down because he (Mills) has a contract for 2010. Some might regret that but at worst it is a mistake - not a disgrace.
Best of luck to Makali Aizue - gloriously exciting player to watch.

| cofr_rockin_robin I am not sure what you "know" but its hardly a disgrace that a player out of contract is being told that he wont be getting a new deal.
I apologise in advance if you know more in depth knowledge however going on your posts you are just very bitter and must be a massive Makali fan.
Makali may well have been offered a contract, it may have been improved from his last contract but Makali may feel he can get a better deal elsewhere.
As for the duty to look after a player, you've heard rumours about his personal life that just are not true. I actually know more in depth the details to those rumours and it wasn't a "problem" as some put it.
What you have to realise is the game has evolved, players like Makka at prop are not used as much these days. More versatile players like Netherton/Lovegrove and Cook are used because they can be pivot players.
Makali is big, strong and fast in fact I think he's one of the fastest prop forwards in the league but when he and Fozzy are on the pitch there is no chance of us putting set plays on and working for tries. IMO it is this reason Makali has been released and Fozzy will be following next year.

| Quote: cofr_rockin_robin "So have a clear out then and get rid of the dead wood and underperforming players , Fitzhenry gone (good) , Fisher plays when he feels like it , I'lanson , Mills , Galea been very poor for the last 5 or 6 games. Replace with State of Origin or International players to move forward. We need a barnstorming prop who can bump off players not another second row who we can convert into a prop.'"
Mills has not played in the last 5 or 6 games, Galea has got better and the wins have returned. Aizue would be 5th choice at the moment behind lovegrove, wheeldon, vella and fozzard on current form for me.
It could be because of the world cup that makka form has dropped off. He was poor against warrington in the cup, giants and quins (not the only one). He came back against salford in a scappy game. I'm sad he's leaving but thats the nature of the game. He's 31 and currently 5th choice (possibly 6th behind netherton depending on the games) prop. We need props who can play30 mins each half and i don't think makka can anymore.
Thanks for the memories, you helped get us were we are.

| As someone else said, JM has been right more times than not and I too wish Macca well. I also hope that our other PNG star does not get another playing contract next season.

| So can anyone 100% tell me that Rovers did not offer Aizue an extended year to his contract that Makali turned down thus being the reason for him leaving the club?
For all any of us know it could be totally Makali's decision to leave and Morgan may have wanted him here for another year. Why people want to jump to personal reasons or training ground bust ups...etc I dont know, never happy to just accept these things happen in sport!
Guess what guys one day our great leader will leave!

| All of this talk about Makka being out of favour seems a little strange to me. I was in the same hotel as Justin last weekend and we had a chat which included talking about Makka and Justin's words were extremely warm and jovial when chatting about him, certainly not the attitude of someone who was about to "sack" that individual 2 days later.
