Why how many games has Meli missed this year through injury? And I'd doubt you'd get him on a one year contract either.

| Meli has missed 6 games, 4 were through suspension for trying to take off Craig Hall's head, incidentally he injured his own elbow and was unable to play anyway. So, 6 games?

| There might be a visa problem due to a drink/drive ban in 2006 if this is true?
From what I have seen of him viz Sky Sports he is a big hitter in the middle of the park and does his fair share at first receiver.

| He will add a lot to your defence.
I think his best years are behind him, obviously, but he still has a lot to offer.
Last year and this year he has played a bit of dummy half during games due to our injury crisis, but he isn't going to start as a hooker any time soon - just do 20 minutes there during games if you are desperate. He did score a couple of good tries by diving over from dummy half, because no one expected it.
The highlight of his career was when he stepped up to play prop for Saint George and was one of their best as they went on a winning streak that led to their grandfinal victory, but Wayne Bennett has said he is too small to play prop and it takes too big a toll on his body, even though he is good at it.
If he plays second row he is good for 80 minutes and he keeps the defence on that side of the field rock solid, but when he tries to do a bit with the ball his ball security can be pretty poor at times. At lock he plays the defensive roll of a prop in the middle and is very quiet in attack. At prop he defends well and his ball security is better because he just does hit ups and doesn't try to pass. At hooker he defends well but his dummy half work is pretty slow and predictable, and I doubt he could play more than half a game at most.
He has been part of some very good and intimidating forward packs when playing for Queensland, Broncos, Saints, and now for Newcastle, and he has certainly played a crucial role as a brutal defender in those packs. He suits the boring, defensive style of Wayne Bennett coached sides and has played most of his career under Wayne. If CS is looking to build a good defensive team Nev will be a key player in that. He won't add a lot to your attack.

| He's a sloppy player in all honesty. Never lived up to the hype whilst at Newcastle. He does however show some aggression, but only when he wants to. Ball security is an issue if he's playing hooker or trying to ball play second row.
Best spot to get him working and running hard would be middle forward.
Someone like Cory Paterson is a better player on the edge.

| Thanks again Roopy, good insight.
I would like to see him play at 13, give him more of a free role to come in and out of the game when he sees fit.
After the loss of 2 key players recently(some will say 3) it's good to have more positive news on the back of another 2 points.
