| Quote: Gavin Miller - Legend "Mate your good authority was wrong.
Rovers very much wanted to sign Radford and it was only an 11th hour U Turn due to Hull matching Rovers offer that stopped him being a Robin.
To me that indicates that Hull have missed out on a target that they had in mind for 2011 and retained him instead at terms more suited to the player then club.
Rovers would be nuts not to take a chance on Craig Hall with his try ratio so i think your wrong there too.
Morgan wanted Radford but the fans didnt so i guess how he performs for Hull will show whos judgement was the best.'"
Think he is on less money at Hull, it was the 2 year deal he was after, like most fans have said he has been pretty good this year, very dubious about a 2 year deal, but we had no choice, due to the lack of props available, in fact this year there seems to be a lack of quality players OOC.
Would have been a good signing for Rovers, very professional and super fit. But if I was a Rovers fan I wouldn't be that botered by this news.
Wheeldon to stay now?

Minus its captain and playing an Injured Galea you mean?

| I'm glad we've 'missed out' personally, past his best and only a solid player anyway, no better then what we've already got.

| Quote: rover49 "Am I missing something here, how have we LOST him, he never played for us, he played for FC. I have it on very good authority he touted himself at Rovers who politely declined. He would not have been a first choice in our side even if he HAD signed, he would be behind Clinton, Vella, Lovegrove, Watts in the front row and a million miles behind Galea, Newton in the back row. The press and forums seem to link anyone who is out of contract with FC to us, Radford is a reasonably good player, who is now at the back end of his career and would not have improved us one iota, we would be better off keeping Wheeldon IMO.
With the signing of Colbon, I doubt whether Hall will be chased either, he will not get in our side unless we have injuries, Fox, Colbon, Webster, Welham, Cockayne are all better for the team, Hall has pace, but offers little in the way of all round SL player, if he did why are FC getting shut at such a young age.'"
Morgans interview on RH yesterday clearly stated he was interested in talking to both Radford and Hall and the reasons he gave were pretty clear.
Radford would give experience in the middle of the park when Vella and Clinton are not around - feels Lovegrove has had a bit too much responsibility this year doing this and believes that young English backs are like gold dust so Craig Hall would fit the bill perfectly.
As GML states it looks like one of Hull's prop targets has fallen through (dont know how cos they were all nailed on FACT ) hence the importance of re signing Radders.

| So, to summarise 19 pages: Radofrd re-signs at Hull for 2 years, Rovers fans happy, Hull fans happy, Radford happy.
Winners all round.
Anybody not happy?

At least you have the modesty to admit that it's purely a guess. Most fans of your club would come on here and insist that they witnessed his suicide attempt on hearing the news!
FWIW, even Morgs is happy!

If this is true Rule won't be a happy bunny since he stated last week no one would breach Hull's new wage structure, except the top earners from overseas and Tickle of course.
Wouldn't have thought this precedence was very good for future wage negotiations for the club, although iv'e no doubt their players will regard this as a victory in boosting their earning power.

| TBF Bertie, with their prop targets disappearing over the horizon, (LMS to Saints, Hargreaves to Bulls, Fielden staying put) they had no choice but to up their offer to keep him.
Rovers need to get Wheeldon tied down quickly, 'cos decent props are as rare as hens teeth.

| Rule actually said that they are happy with the wage structure although "there are exceptions where market forces dictate you may pay above that level"
as Gorka has already said. if the other targets have signed elsewhere then we would be daft not to increase our offer to radford.

TBH I reckon Hull are more likely to up their offer for Dowes before offering Wheeldon a contract but you never know!

Thats not true at all just ask Craig Hall or Mark Calderwood!
Had Hull's prop targets accepted their offers then there is a fair chance both Radders and Dowes would have had their contract offers removed.
Its a gamble holding on but neither the club nor the players in these positions are in full control because of all the external factors.

AFAIK, neither Hall or Calderwood were offered a contract, the players who were offered reduced terms were Radford and Dowes and it would appear in the former case he already managed to at least retain his former earnings due, as you say, to hull having missed out on projected targets. Dowes position presumably remains in limbo. ?
