Webbo could only work with what he had. He had 50% of tge squad injured all season, and players that had been brought in by Sandyknob and Chester being beliw par. Add to that a crap re season lead by Chester and a crap defensive coach.
Webbo is a goid tactician, but the players he had available couldn't execute most of it.
Tilse has down nowt virtually all season, but played ok yesterday. His main fault is that he plants his feet in defence in order to make the tackle and is side stepped every single game. He is alwats the last back in line when being involved in a tackle. If he was any goid, why would players want to run at him (but they do)? My brother is a fully trained RL coach and he has watched him and spotted this major flaw in his game. He calls him an oxygen thief, which is a tad unfair, but I trust hus judgement on Tilse inability.
However, Tilse didn't lose this game singke handedly, but saying he is a good player is one example of why this squad failed to deliver. Stop defending the obviously mediocre players in our squad.
Lunt, Mantellato, Blair, Minns and Greenwood are the only players worth their wage. I would include Sio but we all know he'll definately head back down under.

| To say you guys must be gutted is an understatement.
There is life outside SL and there can de some cracking games but not at the level you will be used to week in week out.
Another big change is the amount of money coming into the club, just on gate receits the difference is massive with away support numbers down to just double figures for some clubs.
If you can you need to get out next year, longer it takes the harder it will be, just ask the Bulls lads.
All the best guys from Fax.

| You'll only have the option to retain players no SL clubs want so assembling a squad now will be really difficult if pre season starts in a month or so

Surely the players have a choice in this? What if they agree with any new terms and conditions we offer them?

To protect the club as well as the players. Losing ~£1m in income could mean bankruptcy for a lot of clubs if they still had to pay SL wages to their full squad. And until recently they wouldn't have been able to anyway as the Championship Salary Cap was a lot lower. This way a newly-relegated club can cut their cloth to match their income without having to deal with contract cancellation issues and expenses, and the players are free to find new contracts without weeks or months of haggling for a release.

Correct. Having the SL contracts terminated in no way obliges a player to leave the club and seek a contract elsewhere. They become free agents but if Rovers offer Championship contract terms that the player agrees to then nothing is stopping them from signing those contracts and playing for Rovers next season.
The assumption has always been that a player who is offered the choice between SL or Championship will always choose SL because it's a higher quality competition and the contract will be worth more. Since the Championship Salary cap was raised, however, the latter no longer applies provided the Championship club can afford to pay SL wages.

| We need to keep hold of greenwood, lunt, walker, Blair, Josh, minn's, Lawler and I'd keep Shaw. If we can renegotiate dion onto a lower wage then he is supposedly on he would be worth it too. The rest can go starting with campese

| It's a very bizzare situation we find ourselves in and it's the first time this scenario will be played out with the extended championship cap. Although everything depends of the funds available for paying players this is where we find out whether people are playing for the badge or as a stepping stone to bigger things. If a player is offered the same wages for what could be described as an easier ride will they take it? There are only limited player places available in S/L and most clubs have done quite a bit of business already so the next month or so will tell us where we are and more tellingly where we are heading

Of course, but if they can play SL and/or get more wedge elsewhere then they won't stay. Agents will be hawking them around already and I expect leigh to take the pick of the bunch

| The null & void works in both parties interests, if you can't afford the players they are free to walk without costing you, if the players have esire to stay in SL they can walk & clubs can vulture, it's cruel but I suppose that's sport at top flight.

It was going to be filled with amateur players anyway according to JP he was going to recruit 20 players & divide 30k on them.

So for those handful of playees we want to keep, hopefully the board and Peacock are doing overtime to retain them. A few may feel indepted/loyalty to us in wake of relegation as long as their personal terms are roughly the same - the top 2 I'm thinking of are Blair and Lunt. Josh might stay as he appears to look pretty loyal as well.
Time will tell but the clock is ticking.....
