Hodgson is a out and out left winger (though admittedly he has played FB on a few occasions). Signing him would mean Fox moving back to the right, where he has struggled massively for any kind of form. IMHO signing Hodgson as a replacement for Colbon makes no sense in terms of team balance and would be a signing for the sake of it.
For me Rovers need to secure Colbons signature as soon as possible.

Well we could re-sign everybody.............guaranteeing another season just like this one.
Changes HAVE to be made and the only scope is with out of contract players. The idea that Colbon is irreplaceable well I can't imagine many agree with that.

Where have i said Colbon is irreplaceable??
Fact is Colbon is far more comfortable on the right and is now showing the form he was when last played on the right for any length of time, he is also infinitely better than Halley. Unless Rovers have targeted a right winger letting Colbon go makes no sense at all.
Morgans crazy decision to swap his wingers resulted in both players losing their form big time. Prior to that they, along with Briscoe, were a very important part of the team structure and were incredibly good at what they did.

Completly agree, prior to his injury and subsequent swapping of sides, Colbon seemed to add an element of organisation to our defence and we seemed a far more solid side with him in it. His clearing of the line was exceptional and he was getting a fair few tries as well.
He seems to be getting a bit of that back of late as well, its just his confidence on any type of kick that still seems shot, if he could sort that he'd be high on my list of players to re-sign.

Agreed. Colbon is actually a very good finisher when close to the line, and can usually take a couple of defenders over with him and still touch down. Even taking the level of opposition into consideration, both wingers looked far more comfortable having been put back to their 2009 positions. I think Rovers recruitment has far more important areas to worry about than new wingers.

Wasn't it something to do with Foxy getting a place in the England squad?

He initially moved Fox to assist his international career, as Fox had switched to the right for England in the 2009 4 Nations games. However, this clearly had a detrimental effect on his game, and both player and club suffered as a result. Morgan should have moved him back last season, nevermind 2/3 way through this one. Not a poor decision to try it, but a very poor move not to recognise it was hurting the team and get it sorted sooner.
I hope Fox can get some confidence back over the last 7 games, as he is quality when on top of his game.

| Maybe I should rephrase it.
What was he thinking leaving it for 2 years when it was clearly not working

Pig headed stubborness? See Murrell at Hooker, Webster at Stand Off, Netherton in 1st 17 for further examples.

Webster at 6, while hardly a masterstroke, lasted 3/4 games?
Looking at his stats vs Wheeldon, Lovegrove and Taylor all I can think for Netherton is that winning the floor isn't included and ruck speed is important nowadays. Watts has been poo'er than I thought this year.
Good points about the wingers - it was a real strength circa 2009. If they can reproduce that in the future, then maybe it isn't such a priority. A bit of depth or competition for places wouldn't go amiss though.
